Durante 3 anos, este pequeno blog apresentou o talento de writers, artistas, fotógrafos e dançarinos espalhados por 14 países de 4 continentes diferentes.
Foram muitas horas de pesquisa, conversas, explorações, recolhas de fotografias e composição de textos que culminaram nesta entrevista com ROTE, um dos writers mais pesados e reconhecidos do graff tuga.
O percurso também teve os seus acidentes, períodos de pausa e algumas desilusões, mas tudo isso foi ultrapassado com o apoio deste extenso grupo de convidados e de vários outros que, não dando a cara, estão sempre prontos a ajudar, a fazer críticas construtivas e a dar sugestões.

Como surgiu o teu tag?
O meu tag surgiu de uma combinação de letras entre o meu nome real e as letras que gostava mais na altura, influenciado pelo COPE de NY.
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
As minhas influências começaram por ser musicais, as capas dos álbuns de heavy metal e punk / ska, os logótipos das bandas, os desenhos das tábuas de sk8 e de surf sempre foram muito fortes.
Como era a cena no graffiti quando começaste?
A cena era séria, estes crews já tinham um nível muito elevado, foi difícil encontrar o espaço necessário.
Não se pintava onde se queria, pintava-se onde podias. Havia respeito, coisa que hoje não existe.
Primeiro tinhas de ter uma evolução no tag / bombing / trains / fame e só depois de pintares muito, aí então, podias sonhar em pintar nas Amoreiras / Belém / Algés / Carcavelos, não era chegar e pintar... Havia e há uma hierarquia que muitos não conhecem...
Quais são os teus spots / cidades preferidos?
Lisboa / Carcavelos / Amoreiras. Mas gosto do país todo.
Quais são atualmente as tuas crews?
GVS e FM.
Foste o fundador dos GVS. Como te sentes a pintar, há tantos anos, com esses vultos do graffiti nacional e internacional?
Sinto-me bem. São quase 30 anos, é muito tempo, muita tinta, muitas horas dedicadas a isto.
Hoje em dia, todos temos vidas diferentes e somos mais velhos, mas 90% ainda pinta.
Tenho muito orgulho na nossa caminhada, fizemos muita coisa que o tempo não vai apagar.
Em tantos anos ligado ao graffiti, já viste muitos writers e crews ficarem pelo caminho. O que te mantém forte na tua ligação ao movimento?
Continuar a pintar por amor ao game e não porque é fixe ou é moda. Daí tantos anos...
O que puxa por ti hoje em dia? Wall of fame, street bombing ou train bombing?
Hall of fame, mas gosto de tudo.
Como defines o teu estilo?
Wild style / spaghetti style.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Ambos.
O que é para ti um bom dia de pinturas?
Estar com os meus.
Também pintas em tela. Tens planos para uma exposição?
Sim, também pinto telas.
Exposições a seu tempo. Virão este ano, espero eu.
Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti em Portugal? O que pode melhorar?
Muito fraco. Não há organização, dá muito trabalho. Existe muito coisa boa, mas na generalidade é cada um por si...
Qual é o teu top 3 de writers portugueses?
E de writers estrangeiros?
Com que writer / artista gostarias de fazer uma peça conjunta?
Estou aberto a propostas. Não sou esquisito.
Que conselho darias à nova geração de writers?
Esforcem-se e lutem pelo que deu muito trabalho a conquistar, o GRAFFITI. Se, hoje em dia, se pinta em qualquer sítio, isso deve-se aos que cá andaram antes.
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?
Os meus planos são continuar o meu caminho como writer, pintar o máximo possível, divertir-me, passar bons momentos, conhecer pessoas e, acima de tudo, pintar.
Projetos futuros, estou a pensar fazer uma exposição a solo este ano que me está a dar muito trabalho e a consumir bastante tempo, mas espero que vá valer a pena.
Tens alguma história que queiras partilhar?
Histórias são tantas que dava para escrever um livro... não dá para escolher uma só...

Props para os pais disto tudo PRM, OBEY, WIZE, EXAS, YOUTH, MOSAIK, para o ilusionista ODEITH, para as minhas duas crews, para a Dedicated Store Lisboa (Eko / Filipa), para todos aqueles com que já pintei e gosto de pintar (são muitos de Norte a Sul do país) e para todos aqueles que mantêm a cena viva. And we reached 100 interviews!!! For 3 years, this small blog showcased the talent of writers, artists, photographers and dancers spread across 14 countries on 4 different continents. There were many hours of research, conversations, explorations, collection of photographs and composition of texts that culminated in this interview with ROTE, one of the most important and recognized writers of graff tuga. The journey also had its accidents, periods of pause and some disappointments, but all of this was overcome with the support of this large group of guests and several others who, without showing their face, are always ready to help, provide constructive criticism and to give suggestions. A BIG thank you to everyone. We are together!
How did your tag come about?
My tag came from a combination of letters between my real name and the letters I liked most at the time, influenced by COPE in NY.
When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time?
My influences started out being musical, heavy metal and punk/ska album covers, band logos, sk8 and surf board designs have always been very strong. Speaking of graffiti, the PRM / THC / NSA / MWA, especially OBEY, WIZE, EXAS, YOUTH, MOS, SIRE.
What was the graffiti scene like when you started?
The scene was serious, these crews already had a very high level, it was difficult to find the necessary space.
You didn't paint where you wanted, you painted where you could. There was respect, something that doesn't exist today.
First you had to have an evolution in tag / bombing / trains / fame and only after painting a lot, then, you could dream of painting in Amoreiras / Belém / Algés / Carcavelos, it wasn't about arriving and painting... There was and is a hierarchy that many don't know...
What are your favorite spots/cities?
Lisbon / Carcavelos / Amoreiras. But I like the whole country.
What are your current crews? GVS and FM. You were the founder of GVS. How do you feel about painting, for so many years, with these figures of national and international graffiti? I feel good. It's almost 30 years, it's a lot of time, a lot of ink, a lot of hours dedicated to this. Nowadays, we all have different lives and we are older, but 90% still paint. I am very proud of our journey, we did a lot of things that time will not erase. In so many years linked to graffiti, you've seen many writers and crews fall by the wayside. What keeps you strong in your connection to the movement? Continue painting for the love of the game and not because it's cool or fashionable. So many years ago... What drives you these days? Wall of fame, street bombing or train bombing? Hall of fame, but I like everything.
How do you define your style? Wild style/spaghetti style. Do you paint with sketch or freestyle? Both. What is a good day of painting for you? Being with mine. You also paint on canvas. Do you have plans for an exhibition? Yes, I also paint canvases. Exhibitions in due time. They will come this year, I hope.
How would you describe the current graffiti scene in Portugal? What can improve?
Very weak. There is no organization, it takes a lot of work. There are a lot of good things, but in general it's every man for himself...

Which writer/artist would you like to do a joint piece with?
I'm open to proposals. I'm not weird.
What advice would you give to the new generation of writers? Make an effort and fight for what took a lot of work to achieve, GRAFFITI. If, nowadays, people paint anywhere, it is due to those who were here before. What are your future plans/projects? My plans are to continue my path as a writer, paint as much as possible, have fun, have a good time, meet people and, above all, paint. Future projects, I'm thinking about doing a solo exhibition this year, which is giving me a lot of work and consuming a lot of time, but I hope it will be worth it. Do you have a story you want to share? There are so many stories that I could write a book... I can't choose just one... Greetings / Thanks?
