Qual é o significado do teu tag?
Bem, o significado do meu tag (MLK) vem da abreviação do nome Mulekula, nome que me foi dado, há muitos anos, pelos mais velhos do Bairro onde eu cresci (D. Pedro V).
Tens formação em arte?
Sim, passei pelas Artes visuais no ensino secundário e conclui o 12º ano no curso Profissional Técnico de Desenho Digital 3D.
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
O meu interesse pelo Graffiti começou muito cedo. Não te consigo datar esse período, mas lembro-me de ainda andar no 5º / 6º ano (2003 / 2004) e já rabiscar bastante os meus cadernos.
As influências, na altura, eram muito poucas. Na zona onde eu cresci dava para contar os graffs pelos dedos de uma mão. Quando ia à cidade (Braga), já via mais graffs na rua e lembro-me de ver “Fynd” em todo o lado e ficar impressionado. Com o passar do tempo, através de viagens a cidades maiores como Lisboa e Porto e com o acesso facilitado à internet, comecei a aumentar o meu interesse, fui procurando peças e tags e comecei a arriscar.
Como era a cena no graffiti quando começaste?
Na verdade, não comecei a pintar desde que descobri o graff. Comecei a pintar mais a sério quando me mudei para Lisboa, em 2016, e nessa altura já me deparei com grandes writers, grandes peças de Street Bombing. Foi também quando começou a febre da Street Art, todos os municípios a quererem pintar fachadas de prédios, túneis, etc. (no entanto, não considero isso Graffiti puro, das ruas).

Sim, pertenço à 253 crew.
O que te move hoje em dia? Wall of fame, street bombing ou train bombing?
O que me move é o Wall of Fame e o Street Bombing.
Quais são os teus spots / cidades preferidos?
O meu spot preferido é a grande LA (linha da Azambuja), as fábricas, oficinas e casas abandonadas.
Quais são os ingredientes para um bom dia de pinturas?
Boa música, MUITA tinta e não pode estar a chover!
Como é o teu processo criativo e onde vais buscar as inspirações para as tuas peças?
O meu processo criativo começa com um sketch no tablet. Adoro desenho digital, consigo rabiscar, apagar, combinar e aplicar cor muito facilmente.
Vou buscar inspiração às peças que consumo visualmente, tanto na street como nas redes.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Gosto de pintar com sketch quando pinto Wall of Fame. No Bombing é à base do freestyle, menos a combinação de cores, gosto sempre de ir com isso pensado.
Qual é aquela peça que ainda te falta fazer (pelo local, tamanho, complexidade)?
A peça que me falta fazer é mesmo a fachada lá do Bairro onde cresci. Mas ainda vamos a tempo de pôr o plano em cima da mesa.
O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?
A minha playlist é muito Hip Hop tuga, muito Boom Bap. Adoro pintar com uns bons bombos e tarolas nos beats.
Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti em Portugal?
Sinto que o Graffiti tem vindo a crescer muito ao longo destes anos, neste momento sinto-o sem barreiras. O Bombing está em todo o lado, os comboios continuam a girar carregados e os Wall of Fame estão aí a cada fim de semana de sol.

Não tenho grandes planos, vou apenas continuar este trajeto de uma forma tranquila e aproveitando todas as oportunidades possíveis, fazendo-o com amor e entrega.
Tens alguma história que queiras partilhar?
Numa das minhas viagens a Lisboa, lembro-me de passar no Eixo Norte-Sul e, deparar-me com uma peça pintada em cima da entrada de um túnel que tinha o fundo com a forma de uma explosão nuclear. Fiquei maluco e com vontade de parar o carro! Fiquei deslumbrado com a aplicação do graff e cresceu aí a minha admiração pelo autor. O tempo foi passando, a vida pôs-me à frente desse writer, e já fizemos uma missão lado a lado. É curioso como a vida acaba por unir as pessoas.

MLK brought his rhymes and his graff to the Azambuja line in 2016, when he left Braga. In rap, he prefers the studio; the battles are only with friends (as a joke). The spray brought him knowledge, friends and experiences that he would never have had if it weren't for Graff. Whether in bars or 3D letters, the writer seems to have found his therapy and his way of letting off steam, always representing his homeland and the 253.
What does your tag mean?
Well, the meaning of my tag (MLK) comes from the abbreviation of the name Mulekula, a name given to me, many years ago, by the elders of the neighborhood where I grew up (D. Pedro V).
Do you have training in art?
Yes, I studied Visual Arts in secondary school and completed the 12th year on the 3D Digital Design Technical Professional course.
When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time?
My interest in Graffiti started very early. I can't date that period, but I remember still being in the 5th / 6th year (2003 / 2004) and already scribbling a lot in my notebooks.
The influences, at the time, were very few. In the area where I grew up, you could count the graffiti on one hand. When I went to the city (Braga), I saw more graffiti on the street and I remember seeing “Fynd” everywhere and being impressed. As time went by, through trips to bigger cities like Lisbon and Porto and with easier access to the internet, my interest began to increase, I started looking for parts and tags and started to take risks.
What was the graffiti scene like when you started?
I haven't actually started painting since I discovered graff. I started painting more seriously when I moved to Lisbon, in 2016, and at that time I already came across great writers, great Street Bombing pieces. It was also when the Street Art craze began, with all municipalities wanting to paint building facades, tunnels, etc. (However, I don't consider this to be pure street Graffiti).
Do you belong to a crew?
Yes, I belong to the 253 crew.
What moves you these days? Wall of fame, street bombing or train bombing?
What moves me is the Wall of Fame and Street Bombing.
What are your favorite spots/cities?
My favorite spot is the greater LA (Azambuja line), the factories, workshops and abandoned houses.
What are the ingredients for a good painting day?
Good music, LOTS of paint and it can't be raining!
What is your creative process like and where do you get inspiration for your pieces?
My creative process starts with a sketch on the tablet. I love digital drawing, I can doodle, erase, combine and apply color very easily.
I get draw inspiration from the pieces I consume visually, both on the street and online.
Do you paint with sketch or freestyle?
I like to paint with sketches when I paint Wall of Fame. In Bombing it's based on freestyle, minus the color combination, I always like to go with that in mind.
What is that piece that you still need to do (due to location, size, complexity)?
The piece I still need to do is the facade of the neighborhood where I grew up. But we still have time to put the plan on the table.
What plays on your playlist when you paint?
My playlist is very hip hop, very boom bap. I love playing with good bass drums and snare drums on the beats.
How would you describe the current graffiti scene in Portugal?
I feel that Graffiti has been growing a lot over the years, at the moment I feel like it has no barriers. Bombing is everywhere, the trains continue to run loaded and the Wall of Fame is there every sunny weekend.

Yes, I intend to continue releasing my rants.
What are your future plans/projects?
I don't have any big plans, I'm just going to continue this journey in a calm way and taking advantage of every possible opportunity, doing it with love and dedication.
Do you have a story you want to share?
On one of my trips to Lisbon, I remember passing by Eixo Norte-Sul and coming across a piece painted above the entrance to a tunnel that had the bottom in the shape of a nuclear explosion. I went crazy and wanted to stop the car! I was dazzled by the application of graff and my admiration for the author grew. Time passed, life put me in front of this writer, and we already carried out a mission side by side. It's curious how life ends up bringing people together.
