Os eventos são sempre ótimos para ficar a conhecer os autores das peças que vou apreciando no Instagram ou encontrando pelas ruas. Depois de ter conhecido o meu novo entrevistado numa jam do Magus, voltámos a cruzar-nos no Festival das Cores deste verão.
Natural de Bogotá, MR. GARPEAR ou PEAR faz parte dos BOSA BOYS CREW (BBC) e o seu trabalho varia entre o muralismo e o graffiti.
O artista / writer foi um dos convidados da minha jam comemorativa das primeiras 100 entrevistas.
Antes de mais, fala-nos um pouco sobre ti.
Bem, sou conhecido por Pear ou Mr. Garpear, sou um writer oldschool de Bogotá, gestor social, cultural e artístico, utilizo o graffiti não apenas como forma de catarse pessoal, mas também como ferramenta de transformação de imaginários sociais, políticos e territoriais.
Desde que comecei não parei de pintar, atualmente perambulo pelas ruas de Bogotá e Lisboa.
Tens formação em arte?
Nenhuma, tudo é empírico, exploratório, autodidata e incorrigível.
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
Bom, o meu interesse pelo graffiti nasceu no ano 2000 e as minhas influências foram os tags que decoravam as decks dos skaters, alguns tags que via pela cidade, as revistas Hip Hop Nation e o meu gosto pela cor, pela rua e pela necessidade de me expressar sem ser assassinado ou silenciado. Eram tempos difíceis, ou pintavas ou eras um porco.
Pertences a alguma crew?
Sim, BOSA BOYS CREW (BBC). É mais que uma crew, é uma família.
Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti em Portugal?
Bem, estou a aprender a decifrar e conhecer a cena portuguesa. Durante este tempo vivido em Portugal, conheci ótimas pessoas que dão tudo por isso, mas não consigo responder.
Já pintaste em quantos países?
Equador, Peru, Brasil, Panamá, Aruba, Espanha, Holanda, Portugal.
Qual foi o local mais incrível em que já pintaste?
Amazonas.
Já participaste em vários festivais e jams de graffiti. Houve algum que te tenha marcado em especial?
Recentemente fiz um grande projeto em Bogotá ao lado da banda mais representativa do rock Colombiano (1280 almas). Foi uma grande experiência cheia de emoções e muita revolução cultural, um legado para Bogotá e uma experiência única que jamais esquecerei.
Preferes lettering ou characters?
Todas as misturas que consigo fazer: lettering, characters, vandal, trains, adoro intervir na rua.
Como é o teu processo criativo e onde vais buscar a inspiração para as tuas peças?
O meu processo é desenhar muito e sair da zona de conforto dos graffitis habituais e repetitivos. Procuro sempre encontrar algo que me diferencie dos outros, desde a composição até a execução de uma peça.
A minha inspiração é a geometria, o minimalismo, sabor e alegria.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Ambos. Às vezes levo comigo alguns esboços dos quais tiro algumas referências, o resto depende da parede e da situação. Prefiro treinar como um jogador de futebol, para quando chegar tudo fluir no campo.
O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?
Cumbia, salsa, merengue, rap, rock.
Quais são os ingredientes para um bom dia de pintura?
- Um bom lugar - algumas cervejas - um par de amigos (embora eu também goste de pintar sozinho) - uma playlist selecionada - três gramas de ... ALEGRIA, hehehe - 2 xícaras de sabor latino.
Qual é o teu top 3 de writers / artistas portugueses?
Gosto do movimento do VILE, BUGSTER, WEK, DANIELA GUERREIRO, MR DHEO e muitos mais, 3 são poucos.
E de writers / artistas estrangeiros?
Com que writer / artista gostarias de fazer uma peça conjunta?
VILE, BUGSTER, WEK, DANIELA GUERREIRO, MR DHEO, qualquer um que traga energia e boas vibrações.
Qual é aquela que consideras a tua melhor peça, a que te deu mais trabalho e aquela que ainda te falta fazer?
Humm são tantos, cada um teve uma luta e dinâmica diferente. Ainda espero fazer a peça que me leve ao êxtase, hehehe.
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?
Deixar uma marca, continuar a pintar e encontrar amigos para conspirar e ver o que dá certo.
A curto prazo, fazer um mural enorme em Lisboa ou algures em Portugal.
Tens alguma história que queiras partilhar?
Histórias de tiroteios, abusos policiais, vizinhos irritados, tinta no cabelo, embriaguez... mas agora prefiro histórias onde o graffiti transforma e destrói positivamente.

Events are always great for getting to know the authors of the pieces I enjoy on Instagram or find on the streets. After meeting my new interviewee at a Magus jam, we crossed paths again at this summer's Festival das Cores .
Born in Bogotá, MR. GARPEAR or PEAR is part of the BOSA BOYS CREW (BBC) and his work varies between muralism and graffiti.
The artist/writer was one of the guests at my jam celebrating the first 100 interviews.
First of all, tell us a little about yourself.
Well, I'm known as Pear or Mr. Garpear, I'm an oldschool writer from Bogotá, social, cultural and artistic manager, I use graffiti not only as a form of personal catharsis, but also as a tool for transforming social, political and territorial imaginaries.
Since I started I haven't stopped painting, I currently roam the streets of Bogotá and Lisbon.
Do you have training in art?
None, everything is empirical, exploratory, self-taught and incorrigible.
When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time?
Well, my interest in graffiti began in 2000 and my influences were the tags that decorated skateboarders' decks, some tags I saw around the city, Hip Hop Nation magazines and my taste for color, the street and the need for express myself without being murdered or silenced. These were difficult times, either you painted or you were a pig.
Do you belong to a crew?
Yes, BOSA BOYS CREW (BBC). Is more than a team, it's a family.
How would you describe the current graffiti scene in Portugal?
Well, I'm learning to decipher and get to know the Portuguese scene. During this time spent in Portugal, I met great people who give everything for this, but I can't answer.
How many countries have you painted in?
Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Panama, Aruba, Spain, Holland, Portugal.
What's the most incredible place you've ever painted?
Amazon.
You've participated in several festivals and graffiti jams. Was there one that particularly marked you?
I recently did a big project in Bogotá alongside the most representative band of Colombian rock (1280 almas). It was a great experience full of emotions and a lot of cultural revolution, a legacy for Bogotá and a unique experience that I will never forget.
Do you prefer lettering or characters?
All the mixtures I can create: lettering, characters, vandals, trains, I love intervening in the street.
What is your creative process like and where do you get inspiration for your pieces?
My process is to draw a lot and get out of the comfort zone of habitual and repetitive graffiti, I always try to find something that differentiates me from others, from the composition to the execution of a piece. My inspiration is geometry, minimalism, flavor and joy.
Do you paint with sketch or freestyle?
Both. Sometimes I take with me some sketches from which I take some references, the rest depends on the wall and the situation. I prefer to train like a football player, so that when I arrive everything flows on the field.
What plays on your playlist when you paint?
Cumbia, salsa, merengue, rap, rock.
What are the ingredients for a good painting day?
- A good place
- some beers
- a couple of friends (although I also like to paint alone)
- a selected playlist
- three grams of... JOY, hehehe
- 2 cups of Latin flavor.
What is your top 3 Portuguese writers/artists?
I like the movement of VILE, BUGSTER, WEK, DANIELA GUERREIRO, MR DHEO and many more, 3 are few.

Which writer/artist would you like to do a joint piece with?
VILE, BUGSTER, WEK, DANIELA GUERREIRO, MR DHEO, anyone who brings energy and good vibes.
What do you consider to be your best piece, the one that gave you the most work and the one you still have left to do?
Hmm, there are so many, each one had a different struggle and dynamic. I still hope to do the piece that takes me to ecstasy, hehehe.
What are your future plans/projects?
Leave a mark, keep painting and find friends to conspire with and see what works. In the short term, make a huge mural in Lisbon or somewhere in Portugal.
Do you have a story you want to share?
Stories of shootings, police abuse, angry neighbors, dye in the hair, drunkenness... but now I prefer stories where graffiti positively transforms and destroys.
