Membro dos FYA, é pela grande Lisboa que espalha o seu lettering arredondado e garrido pontuado com elementos geométricos.
Cab, Fyre , Eko, Rote ou Risko são alguns dos seus parceiros de pintura habituais.
A pintar desde o início dos 90, o writer continua forte no graff, sempre a representar o hip hop, a sua crew e o movimento PBC (Pontinha Bombing Crew).
Como surgiu o teu tag?
O tag SAM veio de um tag antigo que já tinha (SOME) e que comecei a tagar depois de ver o Exas a tagar de trás para a frente Saxe.
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
O meu interesse veio da cena de tagging que explodiu em Lisboa por volta de 1993, com o pessoal dos bairros a tagar o próprio nome por todo o lado. Mas, na realidade, só conhecia os tags, nem sabia o que era graff. Só quando conheci o Edy aka Nigga William aka Tekilla é que ele me começou a mostrar graff em revistas como a Source. Entretanto comecei a ver graff na Pontinha, da crew NSA (PBC atualmente), e depois em Carcavelos, pelos PRM.
Como era a cena no graffiti quando começaste?
Quando comecei a fazer graff era tudo muito à descoberta, não havia muitas referências nem material, as peças que fazia eram minúsculas e as latas normalmente eram roubadas e de má qualidade.
Quais são as tuas crews?
A minha crew de há muitos anos é FYA e represento o movimento PBC (Pontinha Bombing Crew) que faz parte desta nossa cultura desde os primórdios.
Em tantos anos ligado ao graffiti, já viste muitos writers e crews ficarem pelo caminho. O que te mantém forte na tua ligação ao movimento?
O amor à minha crew, à cultura, às cores, ao lettering e ao desafio de manter o meu sempre up.
O que puxa por ti hoje em dia? Wall of fame, street bombing ou train bombing?
Wall of fame e street bombing. Trains também, mas não os tenho feito ultimamente.
Numa palavra, como defines o teu estilo?
O meu estilo é bipolar.
Qual é aquela peça que te falta fazer (pela complexidade, tamanho, local)?
A peça que me falta fazer é sempre a próxima, encaro sempre o próximo graff como um desafio a mim próprio.
Quais são os ingredientes para um bom dia de pinturas?
É um dia de pintura com os meus num Fame ou numa missão mais hardcore bem sucedida.
Quais são os teus spots / cidades preferidos?
Atualmente, gosto de pintar na zona do Montijo, mas a minha cidade de eleição para pintar é Lisboa.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Tenho pintado com sketch. Já que tenho o trabalho de desenhar projetos então é bom que os ponha na parede.
O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?
Toca o som de fundo: Emília (props para o Rote e um beijo à filha dele). Agora a sério, não costumo ouvir música enquanto pinto, gosto de aproveitar e conversar com os meus para pôr a conversa em dia.
Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti em Portugal? O que pode melhorar?
Atualmente há muita quantidade e não tanta qualidade. Valoriza-se muito a atitude em detrimento da qualidade, é a minha opinião.

Criem o vosso próprio estilo e puxem sempre pela qualidade nas vossas peças.
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?
Continuar a fazer graff baseado nos projetos que vou desenhando e continuar a sair da minha zona de conforto para explorar e evoluir enquanto writer.

My first interviewee of 2024 is SAM(URAI)! A member of the FYA, he spreads his rounded and bright lettering punctuated with geometric elements throughout Greater Lisbon. Cab, Fyre, Eko, Rote or Risko are some of his usual painting partners. Painting since the early 90s, the writer remains strong in graffiti, always representing hip hop, his crew and the PBC (Pontinha Bombing Crew) movement.
How did your tag come about?
The SAM tag came from an old tag I already had (SOME) and that I started tagging after seeing Exas tagging Saxe backwards.
When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time?
My interest came from the tagging scene that exploded in Lisbon around 1993, with people in the neighborhoods tagging their own names everywhere. But in reality, I only knew tags, I didn't even know what graff was. It was only when I met Edy aka Nigga William aka Tekilla that he started showing me graffiti in magazines like Source. Meanwhile I started seeing graffiti in Pontinha, from the NSA crew (PBC currently), and then in Carcavelos, from the PRM.
What was the graffiti scene like when you started?
When I started making graff it was all very open-ended, there weren't many references or materials, the pieces I made were tiny and the cans were usually stolen and of poor quality.
What are your crews?
My crew has been FYA for many years and I represent the PBC (Pontinha Bombing Crew) movement, which has been part of our culture since the beginning.
In so many years linked to graffiti, you've seen many writers and crews fall by the wayside. What keeps you strong in your connection to the movement?
The love for my crew, the culture, the colors, the lettering and the challenge of keeping mine always up.
What drives you these days? Wall of fame, street bombing or train bombing?
Wall of fame and street bombing. Trains too, but I haven't been doing them lately.
In a word, how do you define your style?
My style is bipolar.
What is that piece that you still need to do (due to its complexity, size, location)?
The piece I have left to do is always the next one, I always see the next graff as a challenge to myself.
What are the ingredients for a good painting day?
It's a day of painting with my friends on a successful Fame or more hardcore mission.
What are your favorite spots/cities?
Currently, I like to paint in the Montijo area, but my favorite city to paint is Lisbon.
Do you paint with sketch or freestyle?
I have been painting with sketches. Since I have the job of drawing projects, I better put them on the wall.
What plays on your playlist when you paint?
The background music plays: Emília (proposals to Rote and a kiss to his daughter). Seriously, I don't usually listen to music while I paint, I like to enjoy it and talk to my friends to catch up.
How would you describe the current graffiti scene in Portugal? What can improve?
Currently there is a lot of quantity and not so much quality. Attitude is highly valued at the expense of quality, that's my opinion.
What is your top 3 Portuguese writers?
Risko, Cab, Fyre.
And foreign writers?
Seen, Swet, Can2.
Which writer would you like to do a joint piece with?
Nomen (it will no longer be possible).
What advice would you give to the new generation of writers?
Create your own style and always strive for quality in your pieces.
What are your future plans/projects?
Continue writing based on the projects I draw and continue to leave my comfort zone to explore and evolve as a writer.
