Pluger é mais um daqueles writers que sempre vi pelas paredes da Margem Sul. Enquanto membro dos OCK e MDK, foi forte a sua presença no Concelho do Seixal e vizinhos até 2011.
O trabalho, a família, o dinheiro ou o desinteresse, foram algumas das circunstâncias que levaram a um afastamento dos seus companheiros de pintura. Quanto a Pluger, foi a passagem por diversos clubes de futebol que o arredou das paredes, apesar de nunca ter parado de desenhar em casa.
Na quarentena, regressou (em força) às lides, puxado pelos Toys e por Resk, trocando o bombing por cenas mais elaboradas.
Sempre pronto para uma nova missão, para Pluger "writers são sempre writers … a única diferença entre toys e kings são o tempo, o talento e a dedicação".
A sua mensagem é "que se mantenham unidos, dedicados e que não deixem a arte desaparecer. Graff is art!".
Qual o significado do teu tag?
Desde já, parabéns pela iniciativa do projeto e por todo o trabalho que tens feito.
Respondendo às tuas questões, o meu tag Plug ou Pluger não tem nenhum significado especial. Foi apenas um nome que escolhi na altura (nos anos 90) e que, traduzido para português, significa ligação, união ou junção, entre outras.
O meu primeiro tag foi Rae.
Tens formação em arte?
Formação não tenho... mas estudei artes e não terminei devido à disciplina de Geometria Descritiva. Mas o meu pai já desenhava, daí o gosto pela arte desde novo.
Quais são as tuas crews?
Quando comecei a pintar mesmo, tínhamos uma krew que era os APK e que depois se tornou nos OCK. Eu, o Tuiu, o Clunk e o Sofe. Mais tarde, juntei-me aos MDK, a convite do Sektor (se bem me lembro).
Quais são os teus spots / cidades preferidos?
Na altura, os meus spots eram (e sempre serão) onde comecei a pintar, que é na minha zona ... mas gostava muito de pintar autocarros …
Hoje em dia, sabes qual é o spot sem stress e fugidas.
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
O ano certo não sei dizer, mas sei que foi entre 94/95.
As minhas influências foram o Pofe (na altura, dos MDK), que tinha um traço nunca antes visto ... o Tape, Mosaik, Plastic, Bzar, o meu tio York ... entre outros.
Como era a cena no graffiti quando começaste?
Olha, a cena era completamente diferente ... não havia internet e telefone era raro o que tinha ... para comprar latas tínhamos de ir à baixa de Lisboa e aproveitávamos a viagem de transporte para ver peças que tínhamos dado nos dias anteriores. Fazíamos caminhadas de horas, porque ninguém tinha carro nem carta.
Muitas vezes, éramos confundidos com malta que andava a roubar. Umas vezes safámo-nos e outras nem por isso. (Ahahah)
Havia mais união, mais vontade, outras ideias e aventuras. Mas é normal, os tempos mudam.
Wall of fame, Street bombing ou Train bombing?
Antigamente, era raro o fame que dava... a adrenalina corria nas veias para o street bombing e comboios. Nunca fui de pintar muito em comboio mas o street bombing sempre foi a minha cena. Hoje é diferente.
Qual é o teu processo criativo e quais são as tuas inspirações?
Eu, normalmente, baseio-me em temas... escolho o tema e vou seguindo a linha por aí.
Escolho o tema e vou pesquisar depois sobre isso... tiro ideias e faço algo meu.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Como te disse, normalmente tenho temas... mas o lettering sai da cabeça sem mais nada, assim como as cores. Às vezes, trabalho com o que tenho na altura. Se tiver que fazer alguma cara, normalmente tiro do telefone.
Com quem gostas de pintar?
Vou dizer com a minha primeira crew OCK. Bons tempos e aventuras.
Preferes pintar sozinho ou em grupo?

O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?
Não costumo ouvir nada... antigamente, não podíamos ouvir nada... estávamos atentos a quem dizia "olha a polícia"... não podíamos ter os ouvidos ocupados com música.
Ultimamente, o Rial é que mete sempre música. Eu, pessoalmente, nunca levo.
Mas, se tivesse que ouvir, era rap dos antigos.
Qual é o teu melhor trabalho?
Tenho estado a gostar dos últimos trabalhos... nos anos de street bomb não havia tempo para muitas mariquices... agora dá mais tempo para ir ao pormenor e, também, para fazer caras ou desenhos mais elaborados. Os últimos, penso que sim, foram os que gostei mais.
Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti em Portugal?
Olha, não gosto de fazer comparações mas antigamente era raro termos espaço para pintar... estava tudo ocupado com muitos writers em ação. Hoje em dia, poucos pintam ou mesmo os que pintam pintam pouco. Tirando várias excepções... o único que se manteve activo daquele tempo, com a mesma regularidade, é o Resk... e tem que se respeitar e dar valor.

Para mim, foram os que me fizeram ter gosto pelo graff... eu dou valor aos que, entre aspas, me influenciaram e aos que começaram, também, com o movimento do graff.
E de writers estrangeiros?
Na verdade, hoje em dia, não costumo acompanhar graff no estrangeiro...
Antigamente, comprávamos revistas e víamos algumas cenas no estrangeiro. Mas sempre fui muito das cenas daqui de Portugal, principalmente aqui na minha zona (Margem Sul).
Tens alguma história que queiras partilhar?
Histórias tenho muitas... muitas mesmo... a maior parte nem posso contar...
Eu tenho 38 anos mas quando fiz os 18 decidi passar as 00.00 h a pintar... o que aconteceu é que fomos apanhados e passámos as 00.00 h na esquadra do Seixal, até às 03.00 h da manhã... não se pode esquecer.
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?
Não tenho projetos. Vou pintando quando tenho companhia, tempo e vontade.

Pluger is another one of those writers I've always seen on the walls of South Bank. As a member of the OCK and MDK, his presence in the Municipality of Seixal and neighbors was strong until 2011. Work, family, money or lack of interest were some of the circumstances that led to a departure from his painting companions. As for Pluger, it was his time at various football clubs that took him away from the walls, despite having never stopped drawing at home.
In quarantine, he returned (in force) to the paints, pulled by Toys and Resk, changing the bombing for more elaborate scenes. Always ready for a new mission, for Pluger, "writers are always writers … the only difference between toys and kings is time, talent and dedication". His message is "to remain united, dedicated and not let the art disappear. Graff is art!".
What is the meaning of your tag?
Congratulations for the initiative of the project and for all the work you have done.
Answering your questions, my Plug or Pluger tag has no special meaning. It was just a name I chose at the time (in the 90s) and that, translated into Portuguese, means connection, union or junction, among others.
My first tag was Rae.
Do you have art training?
I have no training ... but I studied arts and did not finish due to the discipline of Descriptive Geometry. But my father was already drawing, hence the taste for art since I was young.
What are your crews?
When I started to paint, we had a krew that was the APK and that later became OCK. Me, Tuiu, Clunk and Sofe. Later, I joined the MDK, at the invitation (if I remember correctly) of Sektor.
What are your favorite spots / cities?
At the time, my spots were (and always will be) where I started to paint, which is in my area ... but I really liked to paint buses ... Nowadays, you know what the spot is without stress and escapes.
When did your interest in graffiti start and what were your influences at the time?
The right year I can't say, but I know it was between 94/95.
My influences were Pofe (at the time, from MDK), which had a streak never seen before ... Tape, Mosaik, Plastic, Bzar, my uncle York ... among others.
What was the graffiti scene like when you started?
Look, the scene was completely different ... there was no internet and telephone was rare what we had ... to buy cans we had to go downtown Lisbon and we took advantage of the transport trip to see pieces that we had given in the previous days. We walked for hours, because no one had a car or a letter.
Often, we were mistaken for guys who were stealing. Sometimes we got away with it and sometimes not so. (Ahahah)
There was more unity, more desire, other ideas and adventures. But it is normal, times change.
Wall of fame, Street bombing or Train bombing?
In the past, it was rare for the fame it gave ... adrenaline rushed through the veins for street bombing and trains. I never painted a lot on trains, but street bombing was always my scene. Today is different.
What is your creative process and what are your inspirations?
I usually base myself on themes ... I choose the theme and I follow the line from there. I choose the theme and I will research about it later ... I get ideas and do something of my own.
Do you paint with sketch or freestyle?
As I told you, I usually have themes ... but the lettering goes out of my head without anything else, just like the colors. Sometimes I work with what I have at the time. If I have to make a face, I usually take it off the phone.
Who do you like to paint with?
I will say with my first crew OCK. Good times and adventures.
Do you prefer to paint alone or in a group?
I rarely paint alone ... lately, Rial has been the company or Sirk.
What is your favorite can?
Montana
What plays on your playlist when you paint?
I don't usually listen to anything ... in the past, we couldn't hear anything ... we were attentive to anyone who said "look at the police" ... we couldn't have our ears occupied with music. Lately, Rial always puts music on. I personally never take it. But, if I had to listen, it was old-fashioned rap.
What is your best job?
I have been enjoying the latest work ... in the street bomb years there was no time for many sissies ... now there is more time to go into detail and also to make more elaborate faces or drawings. The last ones, I think so, were the ones I liked the most.
How do you describe the current landscape of graffiti in Portugal?
Look, I don't like to make comparisons but in the past it was rare to have space to paint ... everything was busy with many writers in action. Nowadays, few paint or even those who paint little. With the exception of several exceptions ... the only one that remained active at that time, with the same regularity, is Resk ... and has to be respected and valued.
What is your top 3 Portuguese writers?

For me, they were the ones that made me have a taste for graff ... I value those who, in quotes, influenced me and those who started, too, with the graff movement.
And foreign writers?
In fact, nowadays I don't usually follow graff abroad... In the past, we bought magazines and watched some scenes abroad. But, I've always been a lot of the scenes here in Portugal, especially here in my area (South Bank).
Do you have a story you want to share?
I have many stories... really many... most of them I can't even tell... I'm 38 but when I turned 18 I decided to spend 00.00 painting ... what happened is that we were picked up and spent 00.00 at the police station in Seixal, until 03.00 in the morning ... you can't forget.
What are your future plans / projects?
I have no projects. I paint when I have company, time and desire.
