Harley Costa, mais conhecido como Harte, é um artista brasileiro que nasceu em Castanhal (1995), no estado do Pará.
Em 2010 emigrou para Portugal.
É um dos fundadores do grupo CriAtividades.

Antes de mais, fala-nos um pouco sobre ti. Por volta dos cinco anos de idade, senti amor ao primeiro traço. Pouco mais de vinte anos depois, a arte e eu andamos de mãos dadas. Nessa relação, somos apaixonados por várias formas de expressão, onde privilegiamos o Desenho, a Pintura e o Graffiti.
Qual é o significado do teu tag? Quando as pessoas perguntam o meu nome e eu respondo Harley, dado a letra "H" ser foneticamente muda, na maioria das vezes, as pessoas voltam a perguntar: com ou sem "H"?, e aí respondo: com "H". É daí que nasce o tag. Quando me perguntam quem sou, o que estou a fazer, o que já fiz, eu então digo: Arte com H (Harte), que acaba por ser a combinação do meu nome Harley com a palavra Arte.
Tens formação em arte?
Sim. Concluí o Ensino Secundário (em Artes Visuais) na Escola de Santa Maria, na Portela de Sintra.
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo(a) graffiti / street art e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
Quando cheguei a Portugal em 2010, do aeroporto até Sintra, senti-me fascinado com a quantidade de graffitis pintados na IC19, achei uma autêntica galeria de arte a céu aberto.
Em quantos países já pintaste?
Portugal. Mas gostava de pintar noutros países, sobretudo na minha terra natal Castanhal, no estado do Pará-Brasil. Quais são os teus locais / cidades favoritos para pintar?
Qualquer local para mim é ótimo, mas confesso que tenho uma atração por spots "abandonados", porque são espaços que sempre acolheram a minha vontade de pintar.
Como é o teu processo criativo e onde vais buscar as inspirações para as tuas obras?
Normalmente, faço um apontamento das minhas ideias no "diário" gráfico e, aos poucos, trabalho-as até transpo-las na parede.
Mas também gosto de sentir a beleza da intuição. Sinto-me inspirado quando vou a exposições, quando acompanho os artistas na net e, sobretudo, quando leio.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Como referi há pouco, gosto de fazer sketch, mas aprecio o freestyle, porque ajuda-me a ser mais natural, espontâneo e expressivo.
Preferes pintar sozinho ou em grupo?
Gosto de estar sozinho, aprendo muito, pois é quando estou mais focado. Mas adoro pintar acompanhado, sobretudo pelo convívio e pela partilha que se cria. O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?

Qual é o teu melhor trabalho? É sempre aquele em que sinto, depois de finalizado, que atingi o resultado pretendido.
Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti e da street art em Portugal? Que diferenças encontras em relação ao Brasil?
Acho que o esforço, o empenho e a paixão dos artistas têm contribuído bastante para a emancipação dessa arte, muitas vezes mal interpretada. As mentes das pessoas estão cada vez mais abertas, mas mais para o muralismo do que para o Graffiti, ainda. Por experiência própria, não sei dizer, porque só comecei a descobrir o Graffiti e a Street Art a partir de 2010.

E de artistas / writers estrangeiros?
Com que artista / writer gostarias de fazer uma obra conjunta?
Vários. Mas, sobretudo com aqueles que me influenciaram no início e com pessoas que sentem o mesmo amor que eu.
Fala-nos um pouco sobre o projeto CriAtividades.
É um grupo de artistas, composto por 3 pessoas (Bruno, Diego e eu), que tem trabalhado essencialmente no território da Tapada das Mercês, com workshops e atividades relacionadas com graffiti e muralismo, para criar valor, dinamização e inclusão na comunidade, de modo a promover a cultura, a educação e a sustentabilidade.
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?

Harley Costa, better known as Harte, is a Brazilian artist who was born in Castanhal (1995), in the state of Pará. In 2010 he emigrated to Portugal. He is one of the founders of the CreAtividades group. Get to know him and his work.
First of all, tell us a little about yourself. Around the age of five, I felt love for the first trait. A little over twenty years later, art and I go hand in hand. In this relationship, we are passionate about various forms of expression, where we favor Drawing, Painting and Graffiti. What is the meaning of your tag? When people ask my name and I answer Harley, since the letter "H" is phonetically muted, most of the time, people ask again: "with or without 'H'?", and then I answer: "with 'H'". That's where the tag is born. When they ask me who I am, what I'm doing, what I've done, I say: Art with H (Harte), which turns out to be the combination of my name Harley with the word Art.
Do you have an art background? Yes. I completed secondary education (in visual arts) at Santa Maria School, in Portela de Sintra.
When did it start your interest in graffiti / street art and what were your influences at the time? When I arrived in Portugal in 2010, from the airport to Sintra, I was fascinated by the amount of graffiti painted on the IC19, I found an authentic open-air art gallery. Artists like RAM, Smile, Styler and Odeith fueled my desire to explore this area. In how many countries have you painted? Portugal. But I would like to paint in other countries, especially in my hometown of Castanhal, in the state of Pará-Brasil. What are your favorite places / cities to paint? Any place for me is great, but I confess that I have an attraction for "abandoned" spots, because they are spaces that have always welcomed my desire to paint. How is your creative process and where do you get the inspiration for your works? Normally, I make a note of my ideas in the graphic "diary" and, little by little, I work on them until I transpose them on the wall. But I also like to feel the beauty of intuition. I feel inspired when I go to exhibitions, when I follow artists on the net and, above all, when I read. Do you paint with sketch or freestyle? As I mentioned earlier, I like sketching, but I enjoy freestyle because it helps me to be more natural, spontaneous and expressive.
Do you prefer to paint alone or in a group?
I like being alone, I learn a lot because that's when I'm more focused. But I love to paint accompanied, above all by the conviviality and sharing that is created.
What plays on your playlist when you paint?
Rap music.

What is your best work?
It's always the one in which I feel, after being submitted, that I've achieved the desired result.
How do you describe the current panorama of graffiti and street art in Portugal? What differences do you find in relation to Brazil?
I think that the efforts, commitment and passion of artists have contributed a lot to the emancipation of this art, which is often misinterpreted. People's minds are more and more open, but more to muralism than to Graffiti, yet.
From my own experience, I can't say, because I only started discovering Graffiti and Street Art in 2010.

Which artist / writer would you like to do a joint work with?
Many. But especially with those who influenced me in the beginning and with people who feel the same love as I do.
Tell us a little about the CriAtividades project.
It is a group of artists, made up of 3 people (Bruno, Diego and myself), who have been working essentially in the territory of Tapada das Mercês, with workshops and activities related to graffiti and muralism, to create value, dynamization and inclusion in the community, from to promote culture, education and sustainability.
