Há uns dias, quando promovia a entrevista seguinte, alguém me perguntou quando é que começava a entrevistar a malta do Norte.
Os mais atentos ao blog sabem que já publiquei uma entrevista com o Filho Bastardo, figura conhecida do Porto. E posso informar que já tenho um conjunto de entrevistas (preparadas ou a aguardar) com outros artistas / writers da Invicta, a começar por esta que agora vos trago.
Foi o Mad Kid Kaz quem me disse que este era um writer que devia seguir.
Membro dos ACK, Deks é pesado no wildstyle.
A pintar há mais de 20 anos, afirma que o que o mantém ligado ao movimento é... gostar de pintar o seu nome. 😂
Para a nova vaga de writers, diz que o importante é desenhar e desenhar.
Qual é o significado do teu tag?
O meu tag Deks não tem um significado por si só. Basicamente, foram 4 letras que juntei na altura e que davam uma combinação interessante para desenvolver o meu estilo.
Tens formação em arte?
Sou formado em Design e Multimédia.
Quais são as tuas crews?
A minha crew é ACK.
Quais são os teus spots / cidades preferidos?
Qualquer spot serve.
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
O meu interesse pelo graff começou em 98, quando vi ao vivo um graff do Youth e do Exas aqui no Porto, na zona de Ramalde. Em 99 fiz o meu primeiro graff por intermédio de um rapaz que andava na minha turma de secundário e que, para a altura, já tinha umas cenas bacanas (o Sun aka D-One).
Como era a cena no graffiti quando começaste?
Havia pouca gente a pintar aqui no Porto, na altura, e não era muito fácil conhecer ou receber knowledge de outros writers. Mas havia alguns crews e writers que, para mim, se destacavam na altura (a crew SixOneNine, os LCR, o Bif, o Caos, o Kayo e mais alguns).
Como é o teu processo criativo e onde vais buscar as tuas inspirações?
Hoje em dia, tudo o que faço na parede é freestyle, sempre. Normalmente, só levo pensado o fill in do lettering e, por vezes, o fundo. Mas quando era mais novo e tinha mais paciência para estar em frente a uma folha de papel fazia muitos sketches. Quanto a inspirações no lettering, tento sempre ser fiel à minha forma de construir graffiti e ser influenciado o mínimo possível. Claro que há sempre influências.
Para além do lettering, também és pesado nos characters. Pensas passar os motivos orientais para a parede?
Está em estudo mas ainda não se proporcionou. Mas algum dia vai acontecer.
Wall of fame, street bombing ou train bombing?
Neste momento da minha vida, Hall of fame. Porque me permite desenvolver mais o meu estilo e me deixa mais satisfeito. Mas gosto de tudo o que tenha a ver com graffiti.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Sempre de freestyle. Desenhar num papel e directamente na parede são coisas bem diferentes.
Para mim, levar um projeto para fazer um graff, hoje em dia, é algo contra natura.
O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?
Só o barulho do spray. 😂
Qual é a tua lata preferida?
Loop.
Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti em Portugal?
Muito pessoal a fazer graff fixe e bem pensado.
Que diferenças encontras entre o Norte, a zona de Lisboa e o Sul do país?
Não sei quanto a Lisboa e ao Sul. Aqui no Porto o pessoal está a juntar-se mais para pintar, o que é muito positivo.
Qual é o teu top 3 de writers portugueses?
E de writers estrangeiros?

Qual é o teu melhor trabalho?
Ahahah, não faço ideia.
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?
Continuar a fazer graffiti.

A few days ago, when I was promoting my next interview, someone asked me when I would start interviewing the Northern people.
Those who are more attentive to the blog know that I have already published an interview with Filho Bastardo, a well-known figure in Porto. What is the meaning of your tag? My Deks tag doesn't have a meaning by itself. Basically, there were 4 letters that I put together at the time and they made an interesting combination to develop my style. Are you trained in art? I have a degree in Design and Multimedia. What are your crews? My crew is ACK. What are your favorite spots / cities? Any spot will do. When did it start your interest in graffiti and what were your influences at the time? My interest in graff started in 98, when I saw a live graff by Youth and Exas here in Porto, in the Ramalde area. In 99 I made my first graff through a boy who was in my high school class and who, at the time, already had some cool scenes (Sun aka D-One).

How is your creative process and where do you get your inspirations?
Nowadays, everything I do on the wall is freestyle, always. Normally, I only think about the fill in of the lettering and, sometimes, the background. But when I was younger and had more patience to be in front of a sheet of paper, I used to sketch a lot. As for inspiration in lettering, I always try to be faithful to my way of building graffiti and to be influenced as little as possible. Of course there are always influences.
Aside from the lettering, you're also character heavy. Are you thinking of putting the oriental motifs on the wall?
It is under study but has not yet been provided. But someday it will.
Wall of fame, street bombing or train bombing?
At this point in my life, Hall of fame. Because it allows me to develop my style more and it makes me more satisfied. But I like anything that has to do with graffiti.
Do you paint with sketch or freestyle?
Always freestyle. Drawing on paper and directly on the wall are very different things.
For me, taking a project to make a graff, nowadays, is something against nature.
What plays on your playlist when you paint?
Just the noise of the spray. 😂
What is your favorite can?
Loop.
How would you describe the current panorama of graffiti in Portugal?
A lot of people making graff cool and well thought out.
What differences do you find between the North, the Lisbon area and the South of the country?
I don't know about Lisbon and the South. Here in Porto people are getting together more to paint, which is very positive.
What is your top 3 Portuguese writers?
For me personally, Fedor, Dexa and Dniro. But so many that I could put here...
And foreign writers?
Rime, Berste and Revok.
What is your best work?
Ahahah, I have no idea.
What are your future plans / projects?
Continue making graffiti.
