Foi em 2016 que a minha vida deu uma reviravolta. Privado do contacto diário com a pessoa mais importante da minha vida, senti-me sem rumo, por algum tempo.
Na ocasião, refugiei-me na fotografia e foi através dela que descobri uma nova paixão.
Sem ligações anteriores ao movimento hip hop, ainda hoje me lembro do fascínio que senti ao cruzar-me com os primeiros graffitis que fotografei no Ginjal, resultantes de uma jam promovida pela MOSA, um coletivo de artistas integrado, entre outros, por Ketam, Tiago Hesp, Mojojojo ou PHNSK, o meu entrevistado.
Com formação em Artes e Design Visual, PHNSK especializou-se em ilustração e motion graphics.
O seu tag surgiu no final dos anos 90, quando descobriu a paixão pelo graffiti e pelo lettering.
Balançando entre os campos da arte e do design, o trabalho de PHNSK é reconhecido pelas suas linhas fortes e vibrantes e pela explosão de cores e formas, nas quais as suas personagens assumem a narrativa principal.
O meu gosto pela fotografia e pela arte urbana não parou de crescer e o talento de PHNSK também não.

Já fiz algumas, sempre de forma coletiva. Tenho alguns projetos na gaveta que a seu tempo serão revelados.
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
O meu interesse começou nos anos 90. TROL, SIPH, TAPE, CLEAR, XEBA, KU, SHOK e TIME arrebentavam na minha zona e foram as minhas principais influências.
Como era a cena no(a) graffiti / street art quando começaste?
Não havia o acesso à internet nem a revistas, absorvia o graffiti pelos tags e peças que via na minha zona. Deslocava-me, de propósito, a Oeiras e Carcavelos para observar cada risco de cor.
Quais são os teus spots / cidades preferidos?
Onde moro, Almada, Margem Sul.
Wall of fame, street bombing ou train bombing?
Wall of Fame, mas o bichinho do bombing nunca morre.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Gosto de ter uma ideia geral (com vários apontamentos), mas improvisando e adaptando às diversas situações.

Tudo, literalmente tudo.

It was in 2016 that my life took a turn. Deprived of daily contact with the most important person in my life, I felt, for some time, aimless. At the time, I took refuge in photography and it was through it that I discovered a new passion. With no previous connections to the hip hop movement, I still remember the fascination I felt when I came across the first graffiti I photographed in Ginjal, resulting from a jam promoted by MOSA, a collective of artists integrated, among others, by Ketam, Tiago Hesp, Mojojojo or PHNSK, my interviewee. With a background in Visual Arts and Design, PHNSK specializes in illustration and motion graphics. His tag emerged in the late 90s, when he discovered his passion for graffiti and lettering. Swinging between the fields of art and design, PHNSK's work is recognized for its strong, vibrant lines and the explosion of colors and shapes, in which its characters take on the main narrative. My love for photography and urban art hasn't stopped growing and neither has PHNSK's talent.

Do you have art training? I have a degree in visual design. Design, illustration, graffiti, street art, … What do you prefer? The studio or the street? A little of everything. How is your creative process and where do you get your inspirations? Everything that surrounds me. Your most recent exhibition was with Ketam. How many exhibitions have you had and when will be the next one? I've done a few, always collectively. I have some projects in the drawer that will be revealed in due course. When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time? My interest started in the 90s. TROL, SIPH, TAPE, CLEAR, XEBA, KU, SHOK and TIME were very popular in my area and were my main influences. What was the graffiti / street art scene like when you started? There was no access to the internet or magazines, I absorbed the graffiti through the tags and pieces I saw in my area. I would travel, on purpose, to Oeiras and Carcavelos to observe each color stripe. What are your favorite spots / cities? Where I live, Almada, Margem Sul. Wall of fame, street bombing or train bombing? Wall of Fame, but the bombing bug never dies. Do you paint with sketch or freestyle? I like to have a general idea (with several notes), but improvising and adapting to different situations. Who do you like to paint with? With mine. What plays on your playlist when you paint?
