Já tinha encontrado algumas peças de Sugo (em Massamá ou na A5) quando o conheci num evento organizado por Pregos. Foi um daqueles casos em que cada um de nós pensava que o outro era mais novo (afinal, o seu tag remete para os famosos SUGUS de fruta).
Grande fã do bombing em Auto-Estradas, o writer também aprecia a tranquilidade dos abandonados e não dispensa o convívio de uma jam.
Uns dias mais tarde, combinámos uma visita aos seus spots de eleição. Depois de uma volta pela AE e de uma sessão de urbex pela zona de Sintra, acabámos o dia a subir à torre do relógio de um dos abandonados icónicos da zona da Amadora.
Eu fiquei a conhecer um pouco melhor este representante da nova vaga do bombing e o Sugo ficou a saber que este velhote também gosta de aventura. 😂😂😂
Qual o significado do teu tag?
Sugo... o nome veio de ser puto e, na altura, o pessoal escrever todo nas paredes.
Por volta de 2010, tive de arranjar um nome. Tive outros antes de SUGO, mas foi o que me soou melhor, para além de sempre ter curtido de SUGUS.
Tens formação em arte?
Não tenho formação em arte, mas curtia. Mas, por outro lado, se formos a ver e a pensar bem, muitos em 80/90's também não tinham e partiam a loiça toda. 😂😂😂
Para mim, a arte vem daquilo que cada um sabe fazer e a maneira como faz. Jah vi pintarem de lata de tantas formas que só isso Jah me faz pensar que "cada um tem a sua maneira de fazer a sua arte".
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
O meu interesse pelo graff começou bem novinho, por volta dos 9/10 anos, quando via os putos como eu a escrever nas paredes da escola. 😂😂😂 Depois disso fui começando a prestar muita atenção na rua.
Na altura, via grandes peças do Crise, do Serko, do pessoal mais velho da minha zona e isso chamou-me a atenção e despertou a minha curiosidade e a vontade de ser como eles e ter grandes peças espalhadas pelas streets. Mas nunca cheguei a pintar com nenhum deles, apesar de conhecer o Serko e Jah ter falado com o Crise. Entre outros que via e sentia nessa altura, as cenas deles foram as minhas inspirações.
Como era a cena no graffiti quando começaste?
A cena do graffiti era graffiti, era vandalismo, era união (antigamente viam-se muitas crews) e, fosse onde fosse, eu via tudo pintado.
Pelo menos, a minha mentalidade não mudou de querer pintar tudo e em todo o lado e era assim que o pessoal que pintava comigo pensava. Por isso, também foi com essas bases que fiquei e que mantenho.
Quais são as tuas crews?
Neste momento, a minha crew sou eu e a CP (mas não é os Comboios de Portugal). 😂😂😂 Mas, já agora, um beijinho aos diretores e diretoras dos Comboios de Portugal, pelas missões que nos proporcionam. Quase que os podia considerar uma crew. 😂😂😂
Quais são os teus spots / cidades preferidos?
Spots... eu adoro autostreets, dão-me a adrenalina que preciso pa relaxar. É contraditório mas é verdade. Eu explico... a adrenalina dá-me por saber que tem gente constantemente a passar, mas relaxa-me por pintar, por tar a espairecer e, ao mesmo tempo, por ter noção que a maior parte das pessoas não olham para as chapas, querem é conduzir, ir para casa. E quanto mais rápido eles passam mais eu gosto. 😂😂😂
Mas, fora disso, adoro trains, adoro streets.
Se formos a falar de cidade preferida vai ser difícil, porque a A1 vai de Lisboa ao Porto e a A2 de Lisboa ao Algarve. 😂😂😂 São muitas cidades para ter uma preferida.
Wall of fame, street bombing ou train bombing?
Wall of Fame é fixe, é sempre um momento diferente e mais descontraído, mas street e trains é aquela cena que deixa missões e histórias pelas peças que lá ficam. Porque graffiti a sério é rápido e sem andar a corrigir e a remendar como nos fames.
Como é o teu processo criativo e onde vais buscar as tuas inspirações?
O meu processo vem muito do meu estado de espírito e a inspiração da vontade que tenho... Se tiver contente e com vontade faço uma cena mais criativa, se for um daqueles dias em que vou pintar porque me apetece mas não tou muito contente é difícil de explicar mas vejo como se fosse "só mais 1 peça".
Mas inspirações para pintar não é muito writers ou assim. As minhas inspirações para pintar é pensar que ainda me falta dar o tal spot, dar o tal train. E não há nada como a própria inspiração para subir e conquistar.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Uma pergunta fácil... Pinto sempre sem sketch, mas curto bué desenhar e inventar mil e uma coisas pa pôr no graff. Mas depois, quando pinto na parede, metade delas não aplico.
Preferes pintar sozinho ou em grupo?
Prefiro pintar em grupo, mas um grupo não muito grande. Porque tudo o que é demais cheira mal e, às vezes, com um grupo de muitas pessoas acaba por correr mal.
Qual é a tua lata preferida?
Lata preferida é Kobra, mas curto Flame, Loop, Montana hardcore/black, NBQ (pós tais fames). Curto quase todas as que há cá na tuga... menos ironlak 😂😂😂
O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?
O que toca na minha playlist (para além da voz da CP a dar pressão pa despachar) é muito rap crioulo (mas só com knowledge). Para ouvir dizer que faz e acontece, já tenho muitos "amigos".
Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti em Portugal?
O graffiti, hoje em dia, tá parado... De 2012 a 2018 vi muita atividade de muitos bons writers. Mas muitos levaram brasas ou simplesmente pararam e deixei de ver mambos deles, tanto nas streets como em trains e autoestradas. Mas sempre ouvi dizer que quem se mantém vivo também é visto e a verdade é que muitos não pararam e tão cada vez mais fortes. E esses é o pessoal com que me identifico e a quem dou moral para não pararem e rebentarem cada vez mais.
Qual é o teu top 3 de writers portugueses?
É difícil, há muitos... Patrão Aneph é Sangue Bom. Nylon é doidão, muita atividade, o homem não pára nem quer tar parado. 😂😂😂 E no 3° eu junto todos aqueles que pintam comigo, porque nós somos completos mas cada um à sua maneira.
E de writers estrangeiros?
Writers estrangeiros.... Tripl muitas cenas bacanas, Rasko styles fodidos, Cekios atividades muito dangers.
Com quem gostarias de fazer uma peça conjunta?
Tenho bastante pessoal com quem curtia pintar... nenhum em específico mas, dentro e fora de Portugal, curtia pintar com muita gente, yah.
Qual é o teu melhor trabalho?
Melhor trabalho não sei. Já fiz bons trabalhos de tudo um pouco, tanto em fames como em trains e autoestradas, uns melhores que outros...
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?
Continuar a pintar e evoluir naquilo que gosto, fazer dinheiro pa orientar a família e só ter saúde já tá bom...
Tens alguma história que queiras partilhar?
Histórias... tenho umas engraçadas.
Primeira vez que fui à linha e fomos pintar mesmo na estação, tavam lá os workers a arranjar e a pôr uns sinais na linha e, quando os vimos, corremos feitos malucos para trás. Mas, no meio disto tudo, eu perdi o meu telemóvel, que ficou no meio da linha, e tinha que ir apanhá-lo, neh?? Então, lá fui eu apanhar o telemóvel com os workers todos a rirem. E, então, perguntámos se era na boa pintar e eles disseram "por mim na boa, desde que não me estraguem os sinais". Rimos bué e fomos pintar na mesma. Mas, quando távamos a acabar, algum maluco viu-nos e começou aos gritos na parte de fora da estação e foi aí que corremos, a verdadeira fuga. 😂😂😂

I had already found some pieces by Sugo (in Massamá or on the A5) when I met him at an event organized by Pregos. It was one of those cases where each of us thought the other was younger (after all, his tag refers to the famous fruit candy SUGUS).
A big fan of bombing in highways, the writer also appreciates the tranquility of the abandoned buildings and does not dispense the conviviality of a jam.
A few days later, we arranged a visit to his favorite spots. After a tour on the highway and an urbex session in the Sintra area, we ended the day climbing the clock tower of one of the iconic abandoned buildings in the Amadora area.
I got to know a little better this representative of the new wave of bombing and Sugo learned that this old man also likes adventure. 😂😂😂
What is the meaning of your tag? Sugo... the name came from being a kid and, at the time, people writing all over the walls. Around 2010, I had to come up with a name. I had others before SUGO, but it was the one that sounded best to me, in addition to having always liked SUGUS. Do you have art training? I don't have a background in art, but I enjoyed it. But, on the other hand, if we look at it and think about it, many in the 80's/90's didn't have them either and they broke all the dishes. 😂😂😂 For me, art comes from what everyone knows how to do and the way they do it. Jah I've seen tin paint in so many ways that Jah alone makes me think that "everyone has their own way of making their art". When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time? My interest in graff started very young, around 9/10 years old, when I saw kids like me writing on school walls. 😂😂😂 After that I started to pay close attention to the street. At the time, I saw great pieces by Crise, Serko, the older people in my area and that caught my attention and aroused my curiosity and the desire to be like them and have great pieces spread out on the streets. But I never got to paint with any of them, despite knowing Serko and Jah talking to Crisis. Among others I saw and felt at that time, their scenes were my inspirations. What was the graffiti scene like when you started? The graffiti scene was graffiti, it was vandalism, it was union (in the old days you saw a lot of crews) and, wherever I went, I saw everything painted. At least, my mentality didn't change from wanting to paint everything and everywhere and that's how the people who painted with me thought. Therefore, it was also with these bases that I stayed and that I maintain. What are your crews? At the moment, my crew is me and CP (but not Comboios de Portugal). 😂😂😂 But, by the way, a kiss to the directors of Comboios de Portugal, for the missions they provide us. You could almost consider them a crew. 😂😂😂
What are your favorite spots / cities? Spots... I love autostreets, they give me the adrenaline I need to relax. It's contradictory but it's true. I'll explain... the adrenaline gives me to know that there are people constantly passing by, but it relaxes me for painting, for taking a break and, at the same time, for being aware that most people don't look at the plates , they want to drive, go home. And the faster they go by, the more I like it. 😂😂😂 But other than that, I love trains, I love streets. If we are going to talk about a favorite city, it will be difficult, because the A1 goes from Lisbon to Porto and the A2 from Lisbon to the Algarve. 😂😂😂 There are too many cities to have a favorite. Wall of fame, street bombing or train bombing? Wall of Fame is cool, it's always a different and more relaxed moment, but street and trains is that scene that leaves missions and stories through the pieces that are there. Because real graffiti is fast and without correcting and patching like in the fames. How is your creative process and where do you get your inspirations? My process comes a lot from my state of mind and the inspiration of the will I have... If I'm happy and with the will, I'll do a more creative scene, if it's one of those days when I'm going to paint because I feel like it but I'm not very happy is hard to explain but I see it as "just 1 more piece". But inspirations for painting aren't very writers or so. My inspirations for painting is to think that I still need to give that spot, give that train. And there's nothing like inspiration itself to rise and conquer. Do you paint with sketch or freestyle? An easy question... I always paint without sketching, but I really enjoy drawing and inventing a thousand and one things to put on the graff. But later, when I paint on the wall, half of them I don't apply.
Do you prefer to paint alone or in a group? I prefer to paint in a group, but not a very large group. Because everything that is too much stinks, and sometimes with a group of too many people it ends up going wrong. What is your favorite can? Favorite can is Kobra, but I like Flame, Loop, Montana hardcore/black, NBQ (after such fames). I like almost all the ones here at tuga... except ironlak 😂😂😂 What plays on your playlist when you paint? What plays on my playlist (besides CP's voice giving pressure to hurry) is a lot of Creole rap (but only with knowledge). To hear that it does and happens, I already have many "friends". How do you describe the current situation of graffiti in Portugal? Graffiti, nowadays, is stopped... From 2012 to 2018 I saw a lot of activity from many good writers. But many took embers or simply stopped and I stopped seeing their mambos, both on the streets and on trains and highways. But I've always heard that those who stay alive are also seen and the truth is that many have not stopped and are getting stronger. And these are the people I identify with and to whom I encourage them not to stop and blow up more and more. What is your top 3 of Portuguese writers? It's difficult, there are many... Boss Aneph it's Good Blood. Nylon is crazy, a lot of activity, man doesn't stop and doesn't want to be stopped. 😂😂😂 And in the 3rd I gather all those who paint with me, because we are complete but each in their own way.

Foreign writers.... Tripl lots of cool scenes, Rasko fucked up styles , Cekios very danger activities.
Who would you like to do a joint paint with? I have a lot of people that I liked to paint with... none in particular but, inside and outside Portugal, I liked to paint with a lot of people, yah.
What is your best work?
Best job I don't know. I've done a little bit of everything, both on fames and on trains and highways, some better than others...
What are your future plans/projects?
Continuing to paint and evolve in what I like, making money to guide the family and just being healthy is good enough...
Do you have a story you want to share?
Stories... I have funny ones.
First time I went to the line and we went to paint right at the station, the workers were there fixing and putting some signs on the line and, when we saw them, we ran like crazy backwards. But, in the midst of all this, I lost my cell phone, which was in the middle of the line, and I had to go get it, neh?? So, off I went to get my phone with the workers all laughing. And then we asked if it was ok to paint and they said "it's ok for me, as long as they don't spoil the signs". We laughed a lot and went to paint anyway. But as we were finishing up, some crazy guy saw us and started screaming outside the station and that's where we ran, the real escape. 😂😂😂
