Continuo na minha senda de mostrar o graffiti e a street art por esse mundo fora. Depois da minha primeira entrevista no continente americano com o texano PᎾNᎾ, cheguei agora ao México onde entrevistei MYSTER UG.
Confesso que no início deste meu hobby de fotógrafo de arte urbana, sentia-me mais atraído pelos characters (como os de REFÉM, TRAUMA ou KÖPAK) e só mais tarde desenvolvi o meu gosto pelo lettering, tendo ficado totalmente rendido à mestria de MOSAIK, EKOPRIMEIRO ou VIRUS, entre outros.
Os personagens do meu próximo convidado cativam pelas suas cores garridas, caps de beisebol e latas de spray prontas a disparar.
Fiquem a conhecer o seu trabalho a solo ou na companhia do seu gang. E não percam as próximas entrevistas em que não vão faltar algumas passagens por outros países.

Qual é o significado do teu tag? Na realidade, não tem nenhum significado. Eu gostei da palavra e da sua composição com as letras MISTER e, alguns anos depois, mudei o "I" para o "Y" para MYSTER, para dar algo que o distinguisse da palavra original.
Tens formação em arte? Não, o pouco ou muito que aprendi foi autodidata e com os conselhos de amigos e colegas (muito obrigado por isso).
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
Quando era pequeno havia alguém no meu bairro que fazia personagens cholo de que eu gostava bastante, o mais impressionante era que os fazia ilegais num único tom. Eram do bom JACK FL (anos depois conheci-o em pessoa). Mas foi na secundária que tudo rebentou, quando alguns amigos mais velhos do que eu começaram a desenhar algumas letras com um personagem nos seus cadernos e eu me apaixonei por isso a ponto de também pegar no meu caderno e tentar fazer o que eles faziam e eles deram-me os parabéns pelo meu primeiro graffiti e disseram-me que tinha talento para isso e, aparentemente, eu acreditei nisso. 😜 Então, eu soube o que o PEQUE VRS estava a fazer e foi isso que me surpreendeu e vi tudo que podia ser feito com graffiti e, desde então, tem sido uma inspiração para mim.
Como era a cena do graffiti quando começaste?
Bom, no ambiente em que cresci, havia muita competição. Era muito alinhar a tag ou o bombing da crew adversária e colocar a tua tag ao lado, Não havia muita informação e o mais que conseguíamos eram revistas de graffiti e latas de spray de papelaria.
Quais são as tuas crews?
Neste momento, sou UGLY GANG.
Em quantos países já pintaste? Alguma passagem por Portugal?
De momento, não tive a oportunidade de sair do país, mas estou com muita fome de visitar o mundo por isto que amo.🙏🏻 Espero que aconteça muito em breve. Visitar Portugal era coisa que adoraria, espero que a vida me leve a esse país.
O que preferes? Wall of fame, street bombing ou train bombing?
Nesta fase da minha vida, gosto de passar o tempo na parede e fazer as coisas com calma sem pressão de nada, mas não descarto fazer mais coisas ilegais e um comboio também seria excelente.
Quais são os teus spots / cidades favoritos para pintar?
A minha cidade onde vivo e que, na verdade, não a trocaria por nada. Mas sempre que as pessoas são calorosas é um bom sítio para pintar, seja com velhos amigos ou com novas pessoas (para conhecer e aprender), mas procuro aproveitar cada cantinho.
Preferes lettering ou characters?
Neste momento, pretendo criar os meus personagens, mas não descarto que mais tarde eu goste das letras.
Como é o teu processo criativo e onde vais buscar a inspiração para os teus personagens?
Eu tento achar formas onde elas não existem, do telhado da minha casa até um filme, e daí eu vou moldando na minha mente até ter uma ideia clara e começo a desenhar e na maioria das vezes acaba por ser algo diferente do que foi planeado.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle? Gosto de planear tudo sempre que tenho algo preparado, as coisas ficam melhores e já no processo podes fazer freestyle de acordo com o ambiente.
O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?
Na maioria das vezes é Rap.
Qual é o teu top 3 de writers / artistas mexicanos? Ufa, que difícil, PEQUE, MOTICK, SEHER, para citar alguns, mas há muitos mais (SECRETO, JAZOR, RESOE, KLASE, SMITHE, DELEON, DRAIN). E de writers / artistas estrangeiros? Ufa, ainda mais difícil, ahahaha, ARSEK & ERASE, ETAM CRU, ARYZ.
Com que outro writer / artista gostarias de fazer uma peça conjunta? A verdade é que aprendes sempre muito com cada pessoa e é isso que me interessa pessoalmente, mas se eu tivesse que escolher seriam os já mencionados.
Como avalias o nível do graffiti do teu país? Muito bom no geral. Gostaria que houvesse mais união, mas acho que seria impossível, ahahaha. Estou satisfeito em ver o talento que eles têm. 🔥
Qual é a tua melhor peça?
Acho que ainda não a fiz, parece-me. E nunca estarei 100% satisfeito com o meu trabalho.
Quais são seus planos / projetos futuros?
Trabalho para ser melhor a cada dia e deixo tudo fluir e que isso me surpreenda e me leve a lugares que não imaginava. Gostaria de ter estabilidade económica fazendo o que mais amo e até beneficiando as pessoas que mais amo.
Tens alguma história que queiras partilhar?
Não tenho nenhuma em particular, mas tens sempre algo a dizer como quando a polícia te apanhou, quando conheceste e pintaste com as tuas influências de infância, as bebedeiras depois das pinturas, malucos que se aproximam quando estás a pintar e fazem inconsistências, mas o mais bonito são as pessoas que conheces e que se tornam teus amigos. Por exemplo, eu tenho pintado com o meu melhor amigo (RESOE) há mais de 15 anos (começámos na secundária) e continuamos a sonhar em alcançar coisas novas.

I continue on my path of showing graffiti and street art around the world. After my first interview on the American continent with the Texan PᎾNᎾ, I have now arrived in Mexico where I interviewed MYSTER UG. I confess that at the beginning of my hobby as an urban art photographer, I was more attracted to characters (such as REFÉM, TRAUMA or KÖPAK) and only later did I develop my taste for lettering, having been totally surrendered to the mastery of MOSAIK, EKOPRIMEIRO or VIRUS, among others. What is the meaning of your tag?
In reality, it has no meaning. I liked the word and its composition with the letters MISTER, and a few years later I changed the "I" to the "Y" to MYSTER, to give it something that distinguished it from the original word.
Do you have art training?
No, the little or much I learned was self-taught and with the advice of friends and colleagues (thank you very much for that).
When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time?
When I was little there was someone in my neighborhood who made cholo characters that I liked a lot, the most impressive thing was that he made them illegal in a single tone. They were from the good JACK FL (years later I met him in person). But it was in high school that everything blew up, when some friends older than me started to draw some letters with a character in their notebooks and I fell in love with it to the point that I also took my notebook and tried to do what they did and I was congratulated by them on my first graffiti and I was told that I had a talent for it and, apparently, I believed it. 😜 So I found out what PEQUE VRS was doing and that's what surprised me and I saw everything that could be done with graffiti and since then it's been an inspiration to me.
What was the graffiti scene like when you started?
Well, in the environment I grew up in, there was a lot of competition. It was a lot to line up the tag or bombing of the opposing crew and put your tag next to it. There wasn't much information and the most we could get were graffiti magazines and stationery spray cans.
What are your crews?
Right now, I'm UGLY GANG.
In how many countries have you painted? Any trip to Portugal?
At the moment, I haven't had the opportunity to leave the country, but I'm really hungry to visit the world for what I love.🙏🏻 I hope it happens very soon. Visiting Portugal was something I would love to do, I hope life takes me to that country.
What do you prefer? Wall of fame, street bombing or train bombing?
At this stage of my life, I like to spend time on the wall and do things calmly without pressure from anything, but I don't rule out doing more illegal things and a train would also be excellent.
What are your favorite spots/cities to paint?
My city where I live and, in fact, I wouldn't trade it for anything. But whenever people are warm it's a good place to paint, whether with old friends or with new people (to meet and learn), but I try to enjoy every corner.
Do you prefer lettering or characters?
At the moment, I intend to create my characters, but I don't rule out that, later on, I like the letters.
What is your creative process like and where do you get inspiration for your characters?
I try to find shapes where they don't exist, from the roof of my house to a movie, and then I shape it in my mind until I have a clear idea and start drawing and most of the time it turns out to be something different than what was planned.
Do you paint with sketch or freestyle?
I like to plan everything whenever I have something prepared, things get better and already in the process you can freestyle according to the environment.
What plays on your playlist when you paint?
Most of the time it's Rap.
What is your top 3 of Mexican writers/artists?
Phew, how difficult, PEQUE, MOTICK, SEHER, to name a few, but there are many more (SECRETO, JAZOR, RESOE, KLASE, SMITHE, DELEON, DRAIN).
And from foreign writers/artists?
Phew, even harder, ahahaha, ARSEK & ERASE, ETAM CRU, ARYZ.
Which other writer/artist would you like to do a joint piece with?
The truth is that you always learn a lot from each person and that's what interests me personally, but if I had to choose it would be the ones already mentioned.
How do you rate the level of graffiti in your country?
Very good overall. I wish there was more union, but I think it would be impossible, ahahaha. I'm pleased to see the talent they have. 🔥
What is your best piece?
I don't think I've done it yet. And I'll never be 100% satisfied with my work.
What are your future plans/projects?
I work to be better every day and let everything flow and may it surprise me and take me to places I never imagined. I would like to have economic stability doing what I love most and even benefiting the people I love most.
Do you have a story you want to share?
I don't have any in particular, but you always have something to say like when the police caught you, when you met and painted with your childhood influences, the drinking after the paintings, crazy people who approach when you're painting and make inconsistencies, but the the most beautiful are the people you meet and who become your friends. For example, I have been painting with my best friend (RESOE) for over 15 years (we started in high school) and we continue to dream of achieving new things.
