Foi por altura da entrevista que fiz ao Hier que comecei à conversa com Ezol, pelo Instagram, e o convidei para dar o seu contributo para o blog.
Passados alguns meses, depois de ter fotografado diversas peças suas nos abandonados do Cacém e Porto Alto, recebi as suas respostas.
Pelo caminho, cessou a sua ligação aos GWK, que já durava há alguns anos, mas não o seu gosto pelo graff.
Fiquem a conhecer um pouco melhor o writer e o seu trabalho.
Qual é o significado do teu tag?
Bom, o meu tag não tem qualquer significado verbal, sem ser moral para mim mesmo. Tinha um tag um pouco longo de que ainda hoje gosto (MARSYN) e que, provavelmente com o andar dos anos, voltarei a usar concerteza.
Tens formação em arte?
Não tenho formação em arte, infelizmente. Tenho outras formações como mecânica e vida de rua. :)
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
O interesse no graffiti começou cedo (para mim, atenção). A meu ver, nasci na capital do graff tuga, Rio de Mouro. Tive o meu irmão que acompanhou e pintou pouco infelizmente e desde miúdo que acompanhei, não presencialmente mas de vista, bons writers. Quando era muito novo (9 ou 10 anos) era muito agarrado ao Mister e ao Marte coisas de 1999 e 2002, que saudades).
Como era a cena no graffiti quando começaste?
Bom, quando a cena começou para mim, já um pouco tarde (20 anos), talvez a arrogância, o ego e a mania me tenham levado a querer transmitir muita coisa que hoje vejo como errado! Queria elevar o nome do meu tag ou da krew que criei e esfolei-me!
Quais são as tuas crews?
Não tenho nenhuma krew. Sou o fundador dos GWK, algo a que dei a minha vida, cara e corpo em retorno da ignorância. Atualmente, não me vejo a representar mais nada sem ser o meu tag!
Quais são os teus spots / cidades preferidos?
Eu não posso dizer que tenha uma cidade favorita. Com o tempo, vejo que todas as cidades são importantes, porque todas as cidades têm as histórias de quem lá começou! Por isso, acho que todas as cidades são importantes para pintar, respeitando as suas histórias!
Wall of fame, Street bombing ou Train bombing?
Gosto de fazer tudo, não me vejo mais focado nisto ou naquilo. Graffiti será sempre graffiti para mim. Graffiti é atividade aqui e ali, o importante é espalhar sem passar por cima de ninguém!
Como é o teu processo criativo e onde vais buscar as tuas inspirações?
Sinceramente, se alguém disser que vou buscar inspiração aqui e ali isso é uma mentira redonda! Não desenho, não pratico, nem olho! Respeito o que os outros fazem e eu não. Acho que a única motivação que vou buscar é sendo um grande critico de mim mesmo!
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
12 anos de graff em Portugal e nunca usei projeto ou algo pensado. Fui-me encaminhando na aprendizagem (desenhada na parede) e tentando evoluir o meu estilo!
Qual é a tua lata preferida?
A minha lata favorita será sempre Montana Black, para mim é uma lata com muita qualidade! Gosto também de AKA e de Molotow!
Neste momento, com a prática ganha, qualquer lata é bem vinda. :)
Qual é o teu top 3 de writers portugueses?
Não tenho top de writers, tenho pessoas que respeito e posso mencionar nomes pelo que gosto: EKO / MISTER / CESAR (VDS CPK).
E de writers estrangeiros?
Não posso mencionar nomes porque não consumo muito fora do graff tuga. Gosto da MadC, do Sofles e do Saute!
Preferes pintar sozinho ou em grupo?
De momento, pintar sozinho ou acompanhado é-me igual. Conviver é importante, mas é-me igual. Dou um 50/50.
Com quem gostas de pintar?
Acho que gosto de pintar com todos os que gostam de pintar e respeitam sem fazer muito alarido. Neste anos todos, não pintei com muita gente, mas há pessoas com quem gostava de pintar!
O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?
Na minha playlist toca sempre música com que me identifico. Não consigo dizer nomes porque gosto de músicas antigas da tanga (do rock ao hiphop)!
Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti em Portugal?
Sobre o graff tuga, tem muito que se lhe diga... andaimes legais para dar bombs é simplesmente ridículo lol. Graff tuga está resumido aos mesmos de sempre, podes ter 100.000 peças na rua e ninguém tira fotos das tuas cenas (e até me posso incluir a mim, porque, aceitem ou não, em Lisboa e arredores sou dos que mais deposita algo diferente na rua). É simplesmente vivido pelo post, pela divulgação. Hoje posso dizer que nada tem a ver com o movimento que era no passado, mesmo não sendo desses tempos.
Mas há outros que chegaram com o seu esforço onde desejam! É adaptar aos novos tempos e simplesmente fazer pelo amor, porque o graffiti não será nunca o ganho de algo monetário!
O melhor conselho que vejo para mim e para todos é darem-se bem com toda a gente. Sem deixar que alguém queira pisar o que tens feito, claro!
Qual é o teu melhor trabalho?
Não tenho nenhum trabalho bom, sou muito trapalhão no que faço. Vou explorando a minha necessidade de pintar e revendo o que faço sempre que pinto! Claro que vejo por mim mesmo que estou a mudar com o tempo! É óbvio que aprendi com muita gente!
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?
Bom, os meus projetos futuros passam por poder dar continuidade ao graff que tanto gosto de fazer, mas não fazendo nada que me faça subir em nenhum sentido, vou simplesmente pintar e chegar a casa satisfeito! Porque para uma pessoa como eu, que sempre trabalhou, se em 24h do dia sobram 3h para dar algo aqui e ali é isso que valorizo!
Tens alguma história que queiras partilhar?
Mano, tenho tantas histórias, sei lá. Vou guardar para mim o que o graff me deu. Mas posso dizer que há coisas em que penso quando me deito e sinto saudades. O graff a mim tirou-me de um caminho que não era o mais correto! E tenho muito que agradecer ao graffiti, como uma instrução que tenho dado a mim mesmo e sendo mais realista que parasita!
Props?
Mano, vou dar props às pessoas de que mais gosto e a outras com quem não me dou, mas não vou esconder isso para não ser hipócrita. Não há primeiros nem segundos...
Vou dar um grande big up ao EKO, foi a única pessoa que me ajudou, me apoiou e aturou e que acredito, do fundo do coração, que veja em mim um bom writer e uma boa pessoa. A ele devo muito mesmo, Deus sabe. Vou dar uma saudade enorme ao MISTER, por tudo o que me disse e me instruiu e não ouvi. Se pudesse, retornava tudo para trás! Vou dizer que o CESAR (VDS/CPK) foi também um bom mentor para mim. Props, sem dúvida, para o TASK, que gosto imenso dele e me abriu a cabeça para a realidade. Ao SECO que, apesar de não termos passado muito tempo, é uma pessoa de quem gosto muito. Props para o ROTE, pioneiro do caraças do GRAFF TUGA. Apesar de não me dar com ele, ao EPHAN, por tudo o que me ensinou de não levar as missões como uma brincadeira. Ao HIER, por tudo o que me ensinou e a quem desejo o melhor para a vida dele.

It was around the time of the interview I did with Hier that I started talking to Ezol, via Instagram, and invited him to make his contribution to the blog.
After a few months, after having photographed several of his pieces in the abandoned areas of Cacém and Porto Alto, I received his answers.
Along the way, he ended his connection to the GWK, which had been going on for a few years, but not his taste for graff.
Get to know the writer and his work a little better.
What is the meaning of your tag?
Well, my tag doesn't have any verbal meaning, without being moral to myself. I had a rather long tag that I still like (MARSYN) and that, probably over the years, I will definitely use again.
Do you have art training?
I have no training in art, unfortunately. I have other backgrounds such as mechanics and street life. :)
When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time?
Interest in graffiti started early (for me, attention). In my opinion, I was born in the capital of graff tuga, Rio de Mouro. I had my brother who accompanied and painted little unfortunately and since I was a kid I followed, not in person but by sight, good writers. When I was very young (9 or 10 years old) I was very attached to Mister and Mars, things from 1999 and 2002, I miss them).
What was the graffiti scene like when you started?
Well, when the scene started for me, a little late (20 years old), maybe arrogance, ego and mania led me to want to convey a lot of things that I now see as wrong! I wanted to raise the name of my tag or the krew I created and skinned myself!
What are your crews?
I don't have any krew. I am the founder of GWK, something I gave my life, face and body in return for ignorance. Currently, I don't see myself representing anything other than my tag!
What are your favorite spots / cities?
I can't say I have a favorite city. Over time, I see that all cities are important, because all cities have the stories of those who started there! That's why I think all cities are important to paint, respecting their stories!
Wall of fame, Street bombing or Train bombing?
I like to do everything, I don't see myself focused on this or that anymore. Graffiti will always be graffiti for me. Graffiti is an activity here and there, the important thing is to spread it without going over anyone!
How is your creative process and where do you get your inspirations?
Honestly, if anyone says I'm going to get inspiration here and there, that's a complete lie! I don't draw, I don't practice, I don't even look! I respect what others do and I don't. I think the only motivation I'm going to look for is being a big critic of myself!
Do you paint with sketch or freestyle?
12 years of graff in Portugal and I never used a project or something thought. I started learning (drawn on the wall) and trying to evolve my style!
What is your favorite can?
My favorite can will always be Montana Black, for me it's a high quality can! I also like AKA and Molotow!
At this point, with practice wins, any can is welcome. :)
What is your top 3 of Portuguese writers?
I don't have top writers, I have people I respect and I can mention names for what I like: EKO / MISTER / CESAR (VDS CPK).
And from foreign writers?
I can't mention names because I don't consume much outside of graff tuga. I like MadC, Sofles and Saute!
Do you prefer to paint alone or in a group?
At the moment, painting alone or with others is the same for me. To be together is important, but it's the same for me. I give it a 50/50.
Who do you like to paint with?
I think I like to paint with everyone who likes to paint and respects without making too much fuss. In all these years, I haven't painted with many people, but there are people I liked to paint with!
What plays on your playlist when you paint?
My playlist always plays music that I identify with. I can't say names because I like old thong songs (from rock to hiphop)!
How do you describe the current situation of graffiti in Portugal?
About graff tuga, there's a lot to be said... cool scaffolding to give bombs is just ridiculous lol. Graff tuga is just the same as always, you can have 100,000 pieces on the street and nobody takes pictures of your scenes (and I can even include myself, because, accept it or not, in Lisbon and surroundings I'm one of those who puts something on the street the most different). It is simply lived by the post, by the disclosure. Today I can say that it has nothing to do with the movement it was in the past, even though it was not from those times.
But there are others who have arrived with their effort where they wish! It's adapting to the new times and simply doing it for love, because graffiti will never be the gain of something monetary!
The best advice I see for myself and for everyone is to get along with everyone. Without letting anyone want to step on what you've been doing, of course!
What is your best work?
I don't have any good jobs, I'm very clumsy at what I do. I'm exploring my need to paint and reviewing what I do whenever I paint! Of course I see for myself that I am changing with time! Obviously I learned from a lot of people!
What are your future plans/projects?
Well, my future projects are to be able to continue the graff that I love to do so much, but not doing anything that makes me go up in any way, I'm just going to paint and go home satisfied! Because for a person like me, who has always worked, if there are 3 hours a day to give something here and there, that's what I value!
Do you have a story you want to share?
Man, I have so many stories, I don't know. I'll keep to myself what the graff gave me. But I can say that there are things I think about when I lie down and miss them. The graff to me took me from a path that was not the most correct! And to graffiti I have a lot to be thankful for, as an instruction I've been giving myself and being more realistic than parasite!

Bro, I'm going to give props to the people I like the most and others I don't get along with, but I won't hide it so I don't be a hypocrite. There are no firsts or seconds...
I'm going to give EKO a big big up, he was the only person who helped me, supported me and put up with me and I believe, from the bottom of my heart, that he sees me as a good writer and a good person. I owe him a lot, God knows. I'm going to miss MISTER enormously, for everything he told me and instructed me and I didn't listen. If I could, I would take it all back! I will say that CESAR (VDS/CPK) was also a good mentor for me. Props, without a doubt, to TASK, I really like him and opened my mind to reality. To SECO who, despite not having spent much time, is a person I really like. Props for ROTE, the heck of a GRAFF TUGA pioneer. Although I don't get along with him, EPHAN, for everything he taught me not to take missions as a joke. To HIER, for everything he taught me and to whom I wish the best for his life.
