Já passaram quase 20 anos desde o início da ligação de Sambatronik ao breakdance. Pelo caminho, pertenceu a várias crews e participou nos mais variados eventos.
Atualmente, o bboy desdobra-se em vários projetos ao nível do hip hop, a solo ou na companhia da sua amiga Tutti Fruty.
Mas há sempre tempo para passar o seu legado para o seu filho (Bboy Energy).
Antes de mais, fala-nos um pouco sobre ti.
Sambatronik, 37 anos, Linha de Cascais.
Adoro fazer trabalhos personalizados de graffiti e body painting de forma a puder mostrar algo diferente.
Mas o meu mundo também rola em volta da dança, onde já marco o chão há 18 anos como bboy (breakdance) e onde, sempre que posso, vou espalhando a Minha Magia.
Quando começou o teu interesse pela cultura do Hip Hop e pelo breaking?
O meu interesse pelo Hip Hop começou através de um programa que dava há uns anos que era o Submarino e que acho que era apresentado pelo José Marinho, nessa altura. Passavam grandes peças de rap português e estrangeiro.
O interesse pelo breaking foi na altura em que eu andava na preparatória e vi um colega da minha turma a dançar wave ao ritmo dos sons de Neptuno. Curti do que vi e quis aprender.
De onde surgiu o nome Sambatronik?
Samba é apelido da parte da mãe e o Tronik surgiu quando passei do breaking para o graffiti e foi através de um grande amigo que me estava sempre a chamar samba tronik. Eu não sei onde ele foi buscar o tronik. Como na altura tinha de arranjar um tag adotei o sambatronik.
Pertences a alguma crew?
Agora não. Mas já estive em crews como:
- Flash breakers crew
- Ambition soul force
- Fórmula armada
- Makongo
A minha passagem em cada crew fez-me crescer muito, aprendi bastante. Tive momentos de que nunca me vou esquecer, aprendi a ser muito profissional.
Passei por várias participações em festivais, videoclips, programas televisivos, competições de dança, entre outros momentos.
Descreve o teu estilo de dança.
Eu não tenho um estilo próprio, gosto de viajar enquanto a música toca. Sinto o que me vai na alma e transmito isso para os movimentos que faço.
Que filme / videoclip te marcou?
Filme foi o Beat Street, porque foi a primeira vez onde vi grandes movimentos de breakdance no chão.
Videoclipe foi dos Limp Bizkit, porque curti bué de ver o bacano a fazer aqueles moves de wave e o som tinha muito skill.
Onde vais buscar as tuas inspirações? És tu que crias as tuas coreografias?
A minha inspiração vem através do meu estado de espírito. Deixo-me levar pela música e os movimentos vão sendo transmitidos pelo skill sonoro.
Na altura em que fazia parte das crews que mencionei todos nós dávamos palpites na criação das coreografias.
Qual é o teu movimento preferido?
O meu movimento preferido é o Top Rock.
Já participaste nalguma competição?
Sim, bastantes. Como Battle da Flamenga, Euro battle, entre muitos outros que já não me lembro.
Qual é o (a) melhor parceiro(a) de dança?
O melhor parceiro é, sem dúvida, o meu filho (bboy Energy), porque já está a seguir os passos do pai e é realmente uma inspiração vê-lo dançar. E parceira é a minha amiga Tutti Frutty, porque temos estilos diferentes mas bastante versatilidade um com o outro.
O que toca na tua playlist?
Na minha playlist toca de tudo, porque sou um amante da música e cada estilo de música é apropriada ao momento do dia. Por isso, oiço breakbeat, drill, rap americano, rap brasileiro, rap francês, afrobeat, música comercial, entre outras.
Para além da dança também pintas em vários suportes. Preferes a dança ou o graffiti?
Na verdade, eu amo as duas culturas. Se bem que agora estou mais inclinado para o graffiti. Mas a dança está-me no sangue, porque foi através dela que sou o que sou hoje.
Como classificas o breaking em Portugal?
Acho que o breaking nacional está-se a construir novamente, a pouco e pouco. Porque, em tempos, o movimento morreu bastante a nível nacional e já não se vê tanto love como se via antigamente. Mas acredito que isso irá mudar um dia.

Que conselho darias à nova geração de bboys / bgirls? Se amas o que fazes e se acreditas realmente que és bom, nunca desistas e luta para seres o melhor. Não vai ser fácil mas nunca percas a fé.
Tens feito uns tributos aos pioneiros do Hip Hop em Portugal. Queres falar um pouco mais sobre esse projeto?
A ideia é fazer com que a cultura não seja esquecida e que Grandes nomes não sejam esquecidos, pelo trabalho que têm feito até hoje.
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?
Os meus planos são trabalhar bastante nos meus projetos artísticos, de forma a dar a conhecer o meu trabalho, a nível nacional e internacional.
Tens alguma história que queiras partilhar?
De momento, não me lembro de nenhuma.

It's been almost 20 years since Sambatronik's connection to breakdancing began. Along the way, he belonged to several crews and participated in the most varied events. Currently, the bboy is working on several hip hop projects, solo or in the company of his friend Tutti Fruty. But there's always time to pass his legacy on to his son (Bboy Energy).
First of all, tell us a little about yourself. Sambatronik, 37 years old, Cascais Line. I love to do custom graffiti and body painting work in order to show something different. But my world also revolves around dance, where I've been marking the floor for 18 years as a bboy (break dance) and where, whenever I can, I spread My Magic. When did your interest in Hip Hop culture and breaking start? My interest in Hip Hop started through a program that was broadcast a few years ago that was Submarino and which I think was presented by José Marinho, at that time. Great pieces of Portuguese and foreign rap were playing. The interest in breaking was when I was in high school and I saw a classmate in my class dancing wave to the rhythm of the sounds of Neptuno. I liked what I saw and wanted to learn.
Where did the name Sambatronik come from? Samba is my mother's nickname and Tronik came about when I went from breaking to graffiti and it was through a great friend who was always calling me samba tronik. I don't know where he got the tronik. As I had to get a tag at the time, I adopted the sambatronik. Do you belong to any crew? Not now. But I've been in crews like: - Flash breakers crew - Ambition soul force - Armed formula - Makongo My time in each crew made me grow a lot, I learned a lot. I had moments that I will never forget, I learned to be very professional. I went through several participations in festivals, music videos, television programs, dance competitions, among other moments. Describe your dancing style. I don't have a style of my own, I like to travel while the music plays. I feel what is in my soul and I transmit it to the movements I make. What movie / music video marked you? The movie was Beat Street, because it was the first time I saw big breakdancing moves on the floor. Video clip was from Limp Bizkit, because I really enjoyed seeing the guy doing those wave moves and the sound had a lot of skill.
Where do you get your inspirations? Are you the one who creates your choreography? My inspiration comes through my state of mind. I get carried away by the music and the movements are transmitted by the sound skill. At the time when I was part of the crews I mentioned, we all gave opinions on the creation of choreographies. What is your favorite move? My favorite move is Top Rock. Have you ever participated in any competition? Yes, plenty. Like Flamenga's Battle, Euro Battle, among many others that I can't remember.
Who is the best dance partner? The best partner is, without a doubt, my son (bboy Energy), because he is already following in his father's footsteps and it's really an inspiration to see him dance. And partner is my friend Tutti Frutty, because we have different styles but a lot of versatility with each other. What's on your playlist? I play everything on my playlist, because I'm a music lover and each style of music is appropriate for the moment of the day. That's why I listen to breakbeat, drill, American rap, Brazilian rap, French rap, Afrobeat, commercial music, among others. In addition to dancing, you also paint on various media. Do you prefer dancing or graffiti? In fact, I love both cultures. Although now I'm more inclined towards graffiti. But dancing is in my blood, because it was through it that I am what I am today. How do you rate breaking in Portugal? I think national breaking is building itself up again, little by little. Because, in times, the movement died a lot at the national level and you don't see as much love as you used to see. But I believe that will change one day. What advice would you give the new generation of bboys/bgirls? If you love what you do and if you really believe that you are good, never give up and fight to be the best. It won't be easy but never lose faith. You've been paying tribute to the pioneers of Hip Hop in Portugal. Want to talk a little more about this project? The idea is to ensure that culture is not forgotten and that great names are not forgotten, for the work they have done to date. What are your future plans/projects? My plans are to work hard on my artistic projects, in order to make my work known, nationally and internationally. Do you have a story you want to share? At the moment, I don't remember any.
