Membro dos NGKS, 253 (Braga) e WD, SBEM faz parte da nova vaga de writers que tem vindo a ganhar destaque na Margem Sul.
Sempre à procura de novas obras para fotografar, cheguei até ele através das peças dos Nagasaki Stylers, que fui vendo aparecer nas ruas de Almada e Seixal.
Alguns meses mais tarde, tive oportunidade de o conhecer (e ao Sorz) numa jam organizada pela Dedicated Store, no lançamento da sua nova loja de Cacilhas.
Chegou, agora, a altura de o entrevistar.
Qual o significado do teu tag?
Sinceramente, mano, foi bem à toa (ahaha).
Antes de escrever SBEM escrevia SOUND e andei uns tempos à procura de um novo tag porque já não me sentia bem com o que usava.
Até que, no chat do messenger da crew, o BREK, ao responder a uma mensagem, escreve um “ta sbem bro”. Aí, algo fez clique (ahaha). Andava à procura de um tag simples e que ficasse na cabeça do pessoal e o que é melhor do que um “ta sbem”, que todos dizem sem o querer às vezes.
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências da altura?
O graff para mim começou desde puto, era mesmo criança e olhava para as pinturas nas ruas e sempre gostei. Mas nunca me imaginei a fazê-lo, até porque nunca considerei ter muito jeito para qualquer tipo de cena relacionada com pintura ou desenho. Até que, há cerca de 3 anos (2018), o pessoal da minha crew (Vorm, Brek e Sorz) me chamaram para ir com eles experimentar e, epá, foi desde aí que me apaixonei e não consegui largar.
O crescimento que tive também se deveu imenso ao tempo passado na Dedicated, onde o AYER e o EKO tiveram um papel fundamental. É graças a eles que sou o que sou hoje!
Também devo bastante a uma pessoa em particular e especial, à menina Morfo, que puxou por mim em várias alturas e me continua a influenciar bué na escolha de cores e a levar-me a ser mais perfecionista comigo mesmo. Thank you sweetie.
Quais são os teus spots / cidades preferidas?
Sem dúvida alguma, Lisboa e Margem Sul. O graff game e style cá puxam por mim
como não sinto em mais lado nenhum.
Mas, shoutout ao Algarve e Porto, pelo movimento!
Wall of Fame, Street Bombing ou Train Bombing?
Sendo sincero, ainda não fiz uma missão de train. É o que mais gosto de ver na rua e sou apaixonado por eles. Apesar de já ter tido convites e pessoal a puxar por
mim, ainda não tive oportunidade.
Sobre Fame e Street, depende muito do meu estado de espírito. Mas, ultimamente, tenho curtido mais de pintar em Fame, pois abre muitas outras oportunidades de crescimento em várias áreas, tanto pessoal como artisticamente. E, para mim, graffiti é isso, amor, união e aprendizagem!
Qual é o teu processo criativo e quais são as tuas inspirações?
O processo criativo é bastante livre e sem regras. Um traço aqui, outro ali e tentar chegar ao resultado de forma livre.
Mas, principalmente, comer muitas fonts e ver muito vídeo e graff por aí. Fazer o tpc bem estudado e depois tentar encontrar a minha cena.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Sempre Freestyle.
Acho que uma das cenas que mais me cativou no graff foi o facto de ser livre e
ser a minha cena e não haver regras ou cenas más de todo. Então, ya, acho mesmo importante o sketch claro, temos de fazer o trabalho de casa bem e procurar o style em casa e no papel, mas assim que formos para a rua é pensar na liberdade e ver o que sai no momento.
Qual é o teu top 3 de writers portugueses?
E de writers estrangeiros?
Preferes pintar sozinho ou em grupo?
Prefiro muito mais pintar em grupo, seja missão ou fame, porque há todo um
outro crescimento e as histórias que ficam ganham todo um outro valor por
serem partilhadas (ahaha). Mas também gosto de ir pintar sozinho e, de vez em
quando, tenho de o fazer para limpar a cabeça.

O que toca na tua playlist enquanto pintas?
Boa pergunta (ahaha).
Tanta coisa, mano, mas especialmente hiphop (tanto tuga
como internacional, como por exemplo: Dealema, Slow J, Gula, Wu Tang, Villain Park,
Joey Badass) e hardcore (Knocked Loose, Varials, Malevolence, Steal Your
Crown, Incendiary, Fear The Lord, ...).

Como descreves o panorama atual do graffiti em Portugal?
Atualmente, pode-se dizer que está em fase de construção, mas tem andado
bom. Só acho é que se perde muito tempo, desnecessariamente, com beefs uns
com os outros... Já somos tão poucos no graff na tuga que nos devíamos juntar mais e crescer juntos e não entrar em stresses tóxicos...
É fixe haver uma picardia saudável, até porque isso faz parte do game, mas, na minha opinião, o pessoal devia pensar em crescer mais em conjunto para levarmos o graff mais além, em vez de estarmos só a pensar em definir quem é “toy” ou ”king”, só porque uns dão trains e outros mantém-se fixos no bombing, tag ou em fame...
É importante haver uma variedade de áreas e devemos todos aprender uns com
os outros.
Qual é o teu melhor trabalho?
Sinceramente, até agora, aqueles em que tenho mais orgulho de os ter feito, é o
Nagasaki que está na linha de comboio na ponte de Corroios e o SBEM que fiz
na jam da Dedicated, a convite do EKO, na Venda Nova, Amadora.
Tens alguma história que queiras partilhar?
Há algumas que serão para a vida...
Pintar na linha, no calor do verão, pela noite dentro, pintar um túnel, em plena hora de ponta em Almada, e o graff acabar por aparecer na TV em canal nacional e todo um stress em tribunal por uma cena ridícula (ahaha).
Tudo momentos para contar aos netos, um dia mais tarde (ahaha).

Member of NGKS, 253 (Braga) and WD, SBEM is part of the new wave of writers that has been gaining prominence in Margem Sul.
Always looking for new works to photograph, I came to him through pieces by the Nagasaki Stylers, which I saw appearing on the streets of Almada and Seixal.
A few months later, I had the opportunity to meet him (and Sorz) at a jam organized by Dedicated Store, at the launch of their new store in Cacilhas.
Now, the time has come to interview him.
What does your tag mean?
Honestly, bro, it was completely for nothing (ahaha).
Before writing SBEM I wrote SOUND and I spent some time looking for a new tag because I no longer felt good about what I was using.
Until, in the crew's messenger chat, BREK, when responding to a message, writes “ta sbem bro”. Then, something clicked (ahaha). I was looking for a simple tag that would stick in people's heads and what's better than a “ta sbem”, which everyone says without meaning to sometimes.
When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time?
Graff for me started when I was a kid, I was a child and I looked at the paintings on the streets and I always liked them. But I never imagined myself doing it, because I never considered myself very good at any type of scene related to painting or drawing. Until, about 3 years ago (2018), the people in my crew (Vorm, Brek and Sorz) asked me to go with them and try it out and, wow, that's when I fell in love and couldn't put it down.
The growth I experienced was also immensely due to the time spent at Dedicated, where AYER and EKO played a fundamental role. It is thanks to them that I am who I am today!
I also owe a lot to a particular and special person, Miss Morfo, who has supported me on several occasions and continues to influence me a lot when choosing colors and pushing me to be more perfectionist with myself. Thank you sweetie.
What are your favorite spots/cities?
Without a doubt, Lisbon and Margem Sul. The graffiti game and style pull me here like I don't feel anywhere else.
But, shoutout to the Algarve and Porto, for the movement!
Wall of Fame, Street Bombing or Train Bombing?
To be honest, I haven't done a train mission yet. It's what I like to see most on the street and I'm in love with them. Despite having already had invitations and people pushing for I haven't had the chance yet.
About Fame and Street, it depends a lot on my mood. But lately, I've been enjoying painting in Fame more, as it opens up many other opportunities for growth in various areas, both personally and artistically. And, for me, that's what graffiti is, love, union and learning!
What is your creative process and what are your inspirations?
The creative process is quite free and without rules. A dash here, another there and try to get the result freely. But, mainly, eat a lot of fonts and watch a lot of videos and graffiti out there. Do the TPC well studied and then try to find my scene.
Do you paint with sketch or freestyle?
Always Freestyle.
I think one of the scenes that most captivated me in Graff was the fact that it was free and be my scene and there are no rules or bad scenes at all. So, ya, I think the sketch is really important, of course, we have to do our homework well and look for the style at home and on paper, but as soon as we go out on the street it's time to think about freedom and see what comes out at the moment.
What is your top 3 Portuguese writers?
And foreign writers?
Do you prefer to paint alone or in a group?
I much prefer painting in groups, be it mission or fame, because there is a whole another growth and the stories that remain gain a whole other value for be shared (ahaha). But I also like to go and paint alone and, from time to time, when, I have to do it to clear my head.
Who do you like to paint with?
With my crew, with my Writers Bench people (shoutout GCAT, CALMO, MYKO) and especially with the Dedicated Store Family (EKO, ROTE, MANO,
DISH)!
What plays on your playlist while you paint?
Good question (ahaha).
So many things, bro, but especially hiphop (so much tuga as international, such as: Dealema, Slow J, Gula, Wu Tang, Villain Park, Joey Badass) and hardcore (Knocked Loose, Varials, Malevolence, Steal Your Crown, Incendiary, Fear The Lord, ...).

How would you describe the current graffiti scene in Portugal?
Currently, it can be said that it is in the construction phase, but it has been good. I just think that a lot of time is wasted, unnecessarily, with some beefs with others... There are so few of us in Graff na Tuga that we should get together more and grow together and not get into toxic stress...
It's cool that there's a healthy bit of anger, because that's part of the game, but, in my opinion, people should think about growing more together so that we can take graff further, instead of just thinking about defining who is a “toy" or ”king”, just because some give trains and others remain fixated on bombing, tag or fame...
It is important to have a variety of areas and we should all learn from each other.
What is your best work?
Honestly, so far, the ones I'm most proud of having done are the Nagasaki which is on the train line at the Corroios bridge and the SBEM that I did at the Dedicated jam, at the invitation of EKO, in Venda Nova, Amadora.
Do you have a story you want to share?
There are some that will be for life...
Painting on line, in the heat of summer, late into the night, painting a tunnel, during rush hour in Almada, and the graffiti ends up appearing on TV on a national channel and all the stress in court over a ridiculous scene (ahaha).
All moments to tell the grandchildren, a day later (ahaha).
