It was while exploring the abandoned areas of Margem Sul that I discovered my new interviewee's colorful pieces. Greater than the surprise of the discovery was when, showing the photos at work, a colleague told me "oh, those drawings are from my daughter".

Despite the proximity, it can be said that this interview was a struggle. After a lot of "pressure", here are her answers.

Mariana Branco

Shee has a degree in Design from IADE-U and a postgraduate degree in Design and Visual Culture.

Illustration is what inspires her most, whether in giant murals, editorials or digital animation. She is a lover of art in its various aspects.

Animation is something she does as a freelancer, but one of her dreams is to work in a studio.

In her house there was always art, architecture, books, lots of traveling and going to exhibitions. During hher adolescence she saw her friends writing graffiti and loved their freedom, the giant letters, the bright colors.

College served to meet people who love their work and who are sources of inspiration.

Life and the freedom to be able to live is what inspires.

How did you start your design career?

I had the objective of creating a portfolio with projects in which I could combine music and graphic design. I did the first cover for Naked Munks (2018) and then I was in a collective (2019). My highlight was when DJ N.K (2019) contacted me to do the single cover, I was like "WHAAAT?!". Obviously I did. Later I was able to work with two of my favorite Afro artists, Studio Bros (2020).

Where do you get the influences for your works?

In terms of creation, I start by building the base of images in my head and from there I make sketches and look for images that can meet what I want in the final product. Visually, I am fascinated by colors, patterns, abstract shapes, and Nature. I'm attracted to contrast, so I look for that impact in my projects.

When are you going to paint on the street again?

This year still! I'm going to finish a wall that has been unfinished for about two years, which was the last time I painted. Maybe I can do two paintings this year!

Is animation for music videos something to continue?

If there are clients who want to do animation, of course. It's an area that I love and that requires a lot of work, but I'm always happy because clients trust me to create the narrative and imagery of the videos. Which means they like your art, your aesthetic.

What are your future plans/projects?

During the internship, I illustrated two books that are adaptations of epics for children and young adults and I was proud of the final product. I would definitely like to do an editorial illustration exhibition. I also want to paint more on the street (which helps me decompress) and create a portfolio of commissioned urban art projects.
