Azeitão parece uma incubadora de talento. Depois das entrevistas que fiz à Arvieland e à Tanovskyart (que têm os seus ateliers naquela zona), apresento-vos agora a arte da Fátima Valeriano, outra artista local.
Foi num mercado no Jardim da Estrela que tomei contacto com a sua arte. Os seus insetos fizeram-me lembrar os do Odeith, como tive oportunidade de lhe referir.
Depois de ter apreciado o seu trabalho, no seu site e instagram, resolvi endereçar-lhe o convite para uma entrevista. Aqui a têm.

Azeitão looks like an incubator of talent. After the interviews I did with Arvieland and Tanovskyart (which have their ateliers in that area), I now present to you the art of Fátima Valeriano, another local artist.
It was in a market in Jardim da Estrela that I came into contact with his art. Her insects reminded me of Odeith's, as I had the opportunity to refer to her.
After having appreciated her work, on the website and instagram, I decided to send her an invitation for an interview. Here you have it.

She is from Alentejo.
She always felt connected to the rural environment, the great source of inspiration for her work.
It is in Nature that you find an infinite palette of colors / shapes and different living beings.
Despite having a strong connection to the land, the artist does not deny herself "other flights".
What keeps you strong in your connection to Art?
The simplicity / complexity of the species I paint! Simplicity in its existence and complexity in its form.
I like to discover what is beyond what we see at "first sight".
But I wouldn't say "strong". I'd say it's more of a "stubbornness" than strength.
Would scientific illustration be another career to pursue?
That was the idea when I started. But I realized, over time, that although I love details and spend a lot of time with them, my patience also has limits!
And then I also like to “invent” a little bit, something that scientific illustration does not allow.
Do you also intend to draw the aquatic fauna?
Yes… I can even say jokingly that for some time now jellyfish and jellyfish “populate” my spirit and have to come out.
Is giving painting workshops in your plans?
Yes. Next year I intend to start giving Botanical Illustration workshops, as well as I intend to invite other artists to do so in my atelier in Azeitão.
Is there already a date for the next exhibition?
There will be exhibitions next year, but they are not scheduled yet. And I really want to participate in an "Affordable Art Fair" outside Portugal... let's see!
